Css problem margin auto, width.

Was working on a site today and notice that in IE 8 that my header was not being properly centered, but was working perfect in FF.

Goof-operation what does that mean. Yea the site is flagged the only thing that is on that server is a fresh install of oscmax, which the site was flagged before I put that on their. If I don't get help to bad, the problem was that in the body their wasnt text-align: center; anyways but a goof-operation please at least tell me what that means.
