Hello all I have a strange situation. For a friend, I installed slackware 12.0, which comes with Firefox 2.0.0.4. Started fine, but when I visited my website, I found that CSS background images didn't show... Ok... A google search did reveal several threads about similar problems, so I tried most, if not all. Here are some of the tests: 1) Images +are+ enabled. It seems only CSS images are not shown. 2) I ran the webpage through the CSS validator, and had no errors at all. 3) The page shows fine in Firefox 2.0.0.7 (on another machine) 4) I installed Firefox 2.0.0.11 in the problem machine, with the same result, 5) I submitted the site to the 'screenshot' site (don't recall the name), and all was OK again (even on the 2.0.0.11 browser there) 6) Checked several of the parameters in the about:config list. 7) Tried to clear the cache. I'm frustrated... I even deleted the entire oriiginal 2.0.0.4 directory to be sure... I'd appreciate suggestions! John
I forgot to include a link to the problem page: www.jcoppens.com/kayak/index.en.php The left column has a background image, which doesn't show here. It's not a problem of my page - connecting to google.com, the graphical buttons for 'G o,,, o o g l e' don't appear either. John
This was a clean installation, so I wouldn't have suspected that the profile would be wrong. As a last resort, I deleted the default profile and defined a new one, and now the CSS background images appear as expected. Go figure... Greetings, John
