Hi everyone side tracking a bit, I need help!

I'm setting up a estore for my wife and was wondering which shopping cart would probably be closes match to her needs. Therefore, I'm here seeking advise from experts!

This estore is for our local community only, therefore, we do not intent to receive payment from paypal or using credit cards.

Payment is via bank transfer only. My issue is whether there is any shopping cart that allows client to click whatever items they want to purchase and upon checking out, the list of items will be sent to the admin email and upon manual approval the admin will send out the bill to be paid via bank transfer before shipping.

Pardon my noob question as I have never setup a shopping cart before but I have set up numerous blogs and website.

Thanks in Advance to whoever could help me solve this puzzle!

I am an ecommerce template builder and i build templates for all the mentioned carts. Now when choosing a shopping cart system you must think at the below items:
    1. functionality
    2. security!
    3. how easy it is to add modules or code for future needs
    4. cart support---you don't want a cart that has no free support or forum
    5. server requirements - some carts like magento need the best server

from the mentioned ones i would go for zen cart

There are other alternatives besides the ones mentioned here. If you need and easy to use plug and play solution you should click my signature link and check out the Retailer eCommerce Shopping Cart.

Just wrote a blog on getting away from shopping carts. Please consider reading the blog in the support section of aitendant.com titled "What you have in common with Walmart or Amazon". It may give you some additional options to shopping carts.

I think that is CS-Cart. But it's the paid version, not free as Zencart!

it's very easy to use isn't it? the admin interface is awesome. Plus the search functionality to find anything in the code is a huge plus for me

Zen Cart is out of date, and the team who developed it put up a fake out release of Zen Cart 2.0 in order to lure community members to continue donating to the defunct project.

Here are some good potential alternatives using Wordpress (which is actively being developed) as a platform, and the Cart as a plugin for that:

This one looks cool (is still in beta as of June 1st 2011): http://jigoshop.com/
    http://demo.jigoshop.com/

WP e-Commerce (people consider this one as reliable): http://getshopped.org/

    Wordpress Shopp (costs $55): http://shopplugin.net/

I have to admit that Zen Cart is still good for people setting up lots of products, and that the Wordpress/Plugin combo I recommended is inferior for a serious shopping cart set-up, but may be great for small time set-ups.

Also, I have no proof that Zen Cart is not actively being developed, but I do believe it is falling behind the Web 2.0 scene, not that Web 2.0 is such a big deal to everyone anyhow.

We'll for personal experience i would rather go with magento. Best eCommerce solution, totally flexible and feature rich good for any functionality you want for your store.
