Friends, I am facing a weary issue with web url. I don't know how effectively I will present that here. I will use example. My blog http: //www. investinternals.com" (The Money Maniac) posting article on daily basis. On May 18th I have posted a title named "Infolinks May contest is open for publishers" and I published that. But the URL to that post is like this : http://www. investinternals.com/2009/05/ infolinks-may-contest-is-open-for.html (added space to appear the URL here) That last section has been shortened automatically upon posting. I want to see the last section suppose to be like this "infolinks-may-contest-is-open-for-publishers.html (I mean the full post title should appear in the last section). I am facing this problem with lots of my posts . Most of them have long title for posts but URL is shortening automatically upon posting. I have tried and cried a lot to solve this. My sincere thanks to you for reading this and hope I will get a solution from here as my last trusted place. I am hosting my blog with Blogspot and have own domain name. Please help me guys. If somebody had faced this issue, please share the experience on how did you solved this to appear long names in URL. thanks, Sherin
this issue can easily be solved if you were using wordpress CMS to run your blog. i'm not sure what kind of options blogspot offer for histed environment since you are paying to use your own domain, but check to see within your admin panel for permalink option. if you find a permalink option under your dashboard, then you can use custom permalink. for example, you can use %postname% as a custom permalink on wordpress blog which will get rid of the date and month in turn shortening your URL. you can also edit the wordpress post URL to make it anything you like with the new version. so my suggestion will be to look for permalink edit feature and if you find in within your admin panel or dashboard, you can play around with it
Unfortunately I have not found any option with blog. I surprise no one in the entire forum felt this issue till today !! to advise me?
Blogspot has a fixed length for urls - there's nothing you can do about it. Your options are migrate to a wordpress blog, or write shorter titles.
Yes, that seems a right question. My sincere thanks. Blogspot have URL limit and I agree with your comments. I have found this after adding my previous comment but now it got confirmed from your comment. Thanks
The best option for you is to have your own domain name and host the blog using free wordpress software. You will have to incur some expense for domain name and hosting, but it is worth the effort! Regards, RightMan
