I know it's important for SEO to have good crosslinks on your site and also to use keywords in your link anchor text.

When putting keywords in crosslink anchor text should you try to use keywords from the page you are currently on or keywords from the page the link is pointing to?

    Thanks

I would say for keywords on your current page. Also try not to just put it as anchor text but also as the actual link. Also try to bold the keyword and make it header. Those are all things search engines look for.

Well for me, it depends on the content when using keywords in your link anchor text.
If your promoting a product or service (in general), I think you should use your main page, but if you're promoting a specific product or service, you should use the page the link is pointing to.

    Hope it helps :)

Page your linking to. One text link with that page keywords will not effect keywords of that page.

This is simple... You use as anchor text the keyword(s) or keyword phrase(s) your trying to rank for in search results. This means if you want to rank for "Baby Bottle Boppers" you would use that as your anchor text. You want to build backlinks to "all" your web pages; you'd be surprised how many long\short tail phrases you can rank easily in the top 10 results.

For best results, the keyword should be on BOTH pages.

Thanks for the replies but I think I might not have been quite clear enough with my question.

    I'll try and clarify:

Say you have page A and page B on your website and you are trying to get each of them in the search rankings for different keywords, so you want page A to show up under the keywords "golf lessons" and B under the keywords "villa rentals".

In my cross link from page A to page B should I try to use page A's keywords ("golf lessons") to boost the page I'm linking from's rank or page B's keywords ("villa rentals") to boost the page I'm linking to's rank?

Hope thats a bit clearer

on Page A: "villa rentals" linking to page B
on page B: "golf lessons" linking to page A.
