Cross linking between sites

Hi all. I have this question and I wanted to hear your opinion. I am managing 2 sites; xxx.com (PR4) and xxx.co.uk (PR2). I thought if it would be a good idea to link between them. The first site xxx.com is like informative and the other one is a shopping cart. Content is different but they are from the same brand. I don't want to do excessive linking, just some anchor text links from xxx.co.uk to landing pages in xxx.com.
    Have you done this before?

This is a grey area. I personally avoid doing this because I think it is too risky. I have seen sites with good rankings that have excessive cross linking from their other sites.

It's fine. Especially if they are hosted on a separate IP or webhost.

It wouldn't be very helpful if they are of unrelated content. Since yours is related, then I would interlink them.
