cronjob to ping in wordpress

Hi im currently posting to my blogs directly to the database thus bypassing the whole wordpress backend and therefore not pinging ... i was wondering if anyone knows if i could setup a cronjob to do this as my blogs are posted to every day at the same time ... if so what file would the cronjob need to process ?

any help would be great as i cant find anything about this in searching

I just use a blog pinger in my PC with a windows programme that launch it every day.
This avoid load of pings from my website

can you just open you browser and put the following:

http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ping?sitemap=mywebsite.com/sitemap.xml

This will ping it manually ..
