This is too bad. I guess part of me thought he would live on, and that the incredibly dangerous things he did would not catch up to him.
Wow, that's really too bad, but I guess those are the risks when you work with all of the most dangerous creatures of the world... he knew what he was doing all the time though, I guess he met his match
Could of been a freak accident, but it could of been compounded by the fact that stingray barbs contain venom. Either way, it sucks
Everyone has acknowledged it was rare but entirelty possible (quite obvious now)...The thing is if you put yourself in those kinds of position hundreds of times, something you didn't think would happen is bound to at some point. He has been bitten, stung, etc tons of times and at some point it just catches up to you when all the factors are introduced at once. The guy was doing what he loved and if the sting had been "nearly fatal", he would have been right back at it again.
Site dedicated for the hero ( in case you don't know ) http://steveirwinrip.com To me living in Malaysia, watching his adventure is total adrenalin rush and wathing Animal Planet is never boring because of him. Now he's dead and maybe up there waiting to be reincarnated again. Deep condolences from me.
He will always be remembered for his life long devotion to saving crocodiles. When crocodiles were endangered in the late 60's and 70's they helped to preserve this prehistoric creature. His way of how he did things and showed others around the globe especially children that some animals arent the bad sterotype that they are percieved to be. Im sure steve would have wanted to go out doing what he loves. Hes a great man and the world needs more people with the heart and courage of him. God Bless Steve
Looks like a lot a people here watched Steve and company together, ie., husband and wife. My wife and I loved Steve, and have probably seen just about everything he has done. We planned to go to Austrailia one day as a result. My wife woke me up last night to tell me that Steve had passed. It's a sad day. He will be missed greatly. I just feel so bad for his wife and kids. There were as much a part of the show as those of us that watched it. I just canot believe a sting ray got him. I guess I am going to have to be more careful myself. I will swim just about anywhere and pretty much have. I never realized how dangerous a sting ray could be till now. At least he lived life to its fullest and died doing what he loved. What a sucky day!
That's brutal! I always loved watching him too, the fire, energy, and passion he brought to his work was contagious and entertaining. At least he lived life to the fullest but thoughts and prayers to his family. He will be missed by many.
I am really sorry for him and his family. It`s been a lot since i watched him last time, but he was a great man and his death is a big loss. Condolences
He's been with Crocs and never got injured.. now he's with something so domestic compared to a croc, and is killed by it... This is a big loss and I appreciate what he did for people around the world.
I really cant believe and very depressed. I got a ticket booked to go to see him and to go to his animal park and see him personally i cant believe it.
My heart goes out his family. And I am sure that his wife knows. Even trekking - by now she would have heard. I am sure there is some kind of technology she is carrying with her depending on who she was working for. Even a cell. Life does catch up with you. Even in the line of work Steve Irwin was doing. It was just a matter of time of something getting at him. Even stated in another post before. He has had moments being poisoned before and got back in doing what he loves. Atleast he died doing what he loved doing the most.
I wish what you said were true ..... I wish it were some sick joke and steve'd arise out of nowhere .... but alas .... I as a youngster have grown up watching steve ..... I loved him since the start ... his fearless attitude, his smile, his humour ... his way of handling animals ...everything!!!!! His controversies when he fed chicken to a Croc while holding his young child in his hand and all ..... Steve Irwin and Jeff Corwin are the one's that I have admired all my life .... It's just sad that Steve's not amongst us ... just too sad .... A man who lived his life to the fullest, spending years on years amongst wildlife ... Rest in Peace mate, wherever thou art. Will miss you
damn getting killed by a sting ray is like being killed by a porcupine or something I swim around rays all the time
Just yesterday I was watching a documentary on Animal Planet about poisonous animals in and around Australia. It is really sad to hear about Steve. May God rest him in peace. Just read this at one of the news sites... http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,20355112-601,00.html
