Hi all, I am looking for your thoughts on the design so far. This is a site I am am working on in which web designers can upload and sell their own templates in the same fashion as template monster. I have 2 pages to review and tell me your thoughts please. The first is the designer page which will just tell designers about the program. How does this page feel with such a long text block and how well does the banner fit? http://www.doctyped.com/designers/ The second is a work in progress; the home page. I am interested in getting your takes on this page feel so far, is it to simplistic? I also plan on putting a banner on this page much like the one on the designer page. http://www.doctyped.com/index.php I understand there are some tweeks I need to do with some CSS like the footer area. Please be honest and informative as I want to get this launched quickly. thanks!
Nice design, great for a template selling site, i like the fact that its a very simple template, and nice colors only one thing about the site itself is ^^ thats very high ...
Thanks for the comments! You think? I am taking from that cost for advertising, processing fees and payout to affiliates (affiliates are going to be 15% of sale). We plan on pushing heavy advertising to gain good sales and from a business point of view, thats pretty good for covering advertising and sales. Hopefully it will reflect positively to the designers who get sales. What kind of % where you thinking was more appropriate? John
I like the site a lot. Maybe you should have a graphic that explains the process? You might lose some people with all of the text.
Thats a great suggestion. I love it. I am getting on that one right now! its amazing how tunnel visioned you get on your own projects to miss things like that. But then again, thats why I posted it here
A template designer here. So, some tips for the first page: Improve the money logo quality. That grey shadow doesn't really fit the logo. Add some padding to the links under Designers Program Second page: Add some style to the links in the footer. That's all. I like the way you made the top navigation + the whole site is clean and nice to the eyes. Hope you'll get popular. Kate
Thanks Kate, good advise. I will see what I can do with the shadow, its a stock image I used and I will have to play with it in photoshop. Still working on the styling to the footer. but having a brain fart on what to do! lol
quick shamless plug, all you great designers (Like you Kate!) please sign up on the beta newsletter on the home page of the site (not index.php) http://www.doctyped.com if your interested in the site!
I like it. I love sites that have plenty of space, are nice and bright and are easy to read. The colours are simple yet crisp. Nice.
Thanks Anyone have some sugestion on how I can improve the footer area design wise? Any links to examples? John
Another interested web designer here. The site looks really nice, clean and a lot like A List Apart.com! Only joking, all ideas are amalgamations (nice word) of others I'd use your secondary colour (the lighter blue) and keep it simple for the footer, here's something I threw together in photoshop. http://www.stripedmonkey.com/doctyped/footerdesign.png
I like idea for footer that "sticks and stones" gave. Less is more. I also agree with Katy about that money logo. It looks to cheap. With thie two finall tuches your site will be great. I think I will also try to sell some templates that I made.
Nice site..and to be honest,i don't see an particular interest into it for designers, still, hope you don't take that as an offense Have a nice day
nice site...change the font size in the header blue bar simillar in the footer. make it a little bit small -latest products - image box size . so that it will look good and cute.
when i go to both page, on top menu, I only can see half of the word "Buy Web" and "Sell your" might need some effect and tweak on those menu buttons. logo place a bit too high and close to top of screen. lower it down a bit may look better. overall is good template nice color use and clean. just need more information about the site services. great job.
