In 1987, the National Crime Victimization Survey estimated that about 83 percent of Americans would become the victims of violent crime during the course of their lifetime. - source. Think about it.
Well, what are you gonna do, just mope around about it? The better question is why there is so much violence in America.
You are quoting an article from 2004, which quotes a study from 1987. You do realize it is 2009 now? That study, even if accurate, is over 20 years old! I had a very hard time checking the original claimed sources for the information you post. Why not try posting something with some relevance or is at least current?
I live in KC, Missouri for 5 years and got robbed 2 times in this period at gun point. I have got jumped 4 times and my car had been broken into multiple times as well with one house robbery as well. Out of all these events not one person was arrested After leaving the city i have no problems
There is violence in virtually any country. Some have more, some have less. I'd say 83 percent during a lifetime is neither too much nor too little. The trick is to realize that there is nothing exceptional with America for which we have to assume that they shouldn't have any violence.
Will somebody also care to share that what percentage of countries have been victim of violent crimes BY America
