What is the deal with huge web sites like YouTube, MetaCafe, MySapce, Google Video, Wikipedia and so being able to blatantly engange in thousands (millions?) of cases of copy right infringement (etc) day in and day out ?
Can you give some examples of copywrite infringement by Wikipedia? Also, keep in mind that many of these sites don't generate their own content, but rather provide a service whereby their members generate content for others to view. Most services that specify that they do not monitor their users input are hard to pin down in court, and for good reason. If I decided to post the content of the 7th harry potter book here, for free, should digital point be held libel for any revenue lost by their creator?
I'm only familiar with Wikipedia, but I believe that most of the content of Wikipedia is original, because it's made by so many users, and not one person copying something out of a book. That makes it unique content. Plus, on things like this, knowledge, it's hard to get a copyright.
