Crime Is Taking Over Small Town America.

Are you glad you are not living anywhere near a major city where crime seems to be out of control? Have you moved your family to the suburbs or to a smaller town so that you and your children can be safe and so that you don’t have to deal with the rising crime of the cities? If so you may come to find that you have done so for no reason. Crime seems to be growing faster in smaller towns than anywhere else.

Maybe you are afraid of the big city because all you hear on the news is all the bad things that are happening there, such as murders, rapes, shootings, drugs and gangs? This is not really a good reason to be afraid of the city when you take into consideration the hundreds of thousands or maybe even millions of people who live there and of course there are bound to be bad people among so many.

Actually, crime is decreasing in many of our major cities today while if you have been reading the news you may have caught on to the fact that crime is rising in smaller towns and suburbs, even in the country crime seem to be increasing. One reason for this is the growing epidemic of meth amphetamines which is taking over our rural areas. Like with all kinds of drugs you will find increase of other crimes happening. People do whatever to feed their growing habit and also to protect their so called “investment”.

Drugs very often seem to be the root to all evil because without them people would not do all these crazy things and commit crimes to support their addiction. Drug use is no longer something that takes place only in the ghetto but also among the most influential people among us, it is more common and accepted than most people realize. According to statistics some of your closest friends probably use some kind of drugs and you may not ever know.

The reason meth is now hitting small towns and the country is because it can be homemade with ingredients which are normally found on farms. It seems to be the young generations “moonshine”, only thing is that this bring along with it a lot of crime. Crimes which before has been known as inner city crimes. Anymore you can’t tell if a person is a drug user because he fits in that particular category. There are no “drug categories”.

As you can see, if you moved away from the city to avoid crime you may be disappointed because you might just have jumped from the frying pan and into the fire. Crime is really nothing you can run from, it is something you just have to try your best to avoid and as far as your kids go, educate them about what is going on in the world and do not try to hide the terrible reality from them. They need to be prepared to face what is out there

I'm glad I live in small town America :D

Nice, quite, conservative (for the most part) with very few moonbats. No one to make up unsourced stories to create fear, doom and gloom for a little attention.

The cost of living is low, the chances of living are high. I've gotta admit, life couldn't be better in small town America!

While I agree Meth is a huge problem (even in rural areas, I know firsthand) I hardly believe it's safer to live in a big city than in a rural town.

Rural towns have their upsides, they also have plenty of downsides...

I totally agree it is safer to live in the the small town, the point was that we are losing our small towns to the easy to produce meth labs.

It is a fact that this type of problem is eating at the fabric of big and small towns.

Big crime so far seems to be in two of the small towns I lived in, the damn drunks!
Now living in a small town in Iowa and I love it!
People here are friendly, wave to me. If they are walking by (big sport here, walk and walk and walk...even my wife has got me doing a bit of power walking), they stop to talk to me, introduce ourselves, stuff like that.
2 houses up from us, the town cop lives. Next door to him is a state trooper.
Plus about 2 blocks from us, a county mountie.
    Feel quite safe really.

NOw to sell some good stuff!
Seem me in bst forums shortly.

Meth is a big problem in this area and the surrounding towns. It is sad that so many busted for making meth are in their 50's and 60's and most are old hippies who are still wearing the same grateful dead shirts of the 70's

Then the family that was rescued from their snow stuck RV happened to be running from the law too= we make national news a lot for the wierd people that come around here.

So, yoyo stay put we don't need anymore around here, we have enough.

I grew up in a tiny town in the midwest, and I'll never go back. The simple, boring, solitary, redneck life isn't for me. I like it in the city ;)

I think crow has a point. I even thought about this before I read the thread. And, it's like I feel MORE safe living in the city in a condo, (Vegas) than having a home in the suburbs (Henderson) because whenever I hear about a home invasion it's always in some upscale suburban home. It's awful. I feel a lot safer in a gated condo complex with lots of people nearby.

We had the flamethrowers proposed here a few years ago, but they were rejected.

We also had mace/pepper spray devices installed on the doors, but the government also rejected those.

And one of my favorites was a sonic bomb (70DB). Basically if you sit in the car and don't deactivate the system within a specified time, the funny thing was that a friend of mine had one of those and after a night of drinking forgot that he had one in his car. Let's put it this way, it sobered him up quickly.
