I figured that these days, crime would be the highest it has ever been in the US, but surprisingly it's not. Take a look at this chart: http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/uscrime.htm Apparently, crime was the highest in the US in the early 90s
90s marked the epidemic of gang violence. While we still have gang violence in the major cities, its nothing like it was in the 90s. Plus the East coast/West coast beef attributed to about 55% of all total violence during this timeframe
Well obviously some places will rise while others drop. But all together in the states, it's not as high as it once was.
Oh me too. That's why I figured it was the worse it's ever been in America's history. I guess it's because I only started really paying attention to the news and the world for only the past year or so. There is alot of good that goes un-noticed though.
we will have to wait until the next few years to see how the DC looks after they remove the handgun ban
In many cases, it's the media bias which makes it seem that the crime rates are a lot worse than they actually are. However, in the USA specifically, the lax gun controls makes crime a lot more prevalent than many other countries.
Crime is getting 'worse' because population is growing, so more crime is occurring. Crime per capita is the same.
