Are you serious? Neither are very popular? 1.1 billion in India, 20 mill Australians, 165 Paki's and 60 mill English for Cricket, 300 mill Americans, 125 mill Japanese for Baseball, about 35 mill from Korea. I don't know what 'relatively' means to you but 1.8 billion people out of 6.7 billion is a lot of people who's native country is active in baseball/cricket is a lot. I also would've missed out on a lot of countries as well with that 1.8 billion figure.
For me, no need to argue. Both of them are different from each other. So that makes a lot of differences in popularity as well. To know exactly about which is more popular, a survey needed. So we don't have to waste our energy on it. Better use our energy to play baseball or cricket. Am I right or right?
Baseball is big in Japan, Mexico, Canada, South Korea, Dominican Republic and Cuba. On a dollar basis baseball is more popular.
I meant specifically in most of europe and china neither are relatively popular! Not that they weren't popular relatively all over the world.
Yeah, there's definately more money in Baseball. You can take a look at the Indian Premier League for Cricket, the most expensive player was bought for $US 1.5 Mill. I wouldn't be suprised if Alex Rodriguez earnt more than half of international cricket.
well cricket is popular even in states now the y are back to international cricket afte being banned all these years
As far as I know even America is goin to introduce cricket in their country in upcoming years... And so many of the countries are trying hard to stand out there in cricket field. So dont make it as personal issue.
All things are relative. I think that if you're an American then it would appear that baseball is more popular because most Americans don't know one end of a cricket bat from another. However all that is changing and probably in ten years time the Americans would have a different answer, with the game now being played in local schools, the ICC plan to develop the game there, and the growing popularity of 20/20 I was brought up on a steady diet of cricket and am therefore biased towards it. I expect that if you played the statistics game Cricket would probably come out on top because of the number of countries that play it (The British Empire stretched far and wide).
I watched this video of cricket last night http://youtube.com/watch?v=FRXmPe8I7QQ and WOW was i amazed at some of the plays they made. Really baseball and cricket are SO much differant that its hard to compare the too. The only things that are the same is that you are hitting a ball. Pretty crazy that these guys catch hard wooden balls with bare hands...ouch.
I am a fan of both cricket and baseball but I think cricket is more popular because it is played in more countries by more people.
