(I've posted this in other locations, and I'll post here as well, in hopes someone has more information that can help me.) The ripoff site - http://www.creonixmedia.com (I've archived their site for posterity) The original - http://www.equentity.com They even took every word of our content! Check out "Meet the Owners." They used our descriptions for themselves! The big problem for them is that all of our images are digitally watermarked. Their site has our name written all over it, and they have no idea (yet). Obviously, we have C&D letters prepared, and we are copying GNAX, Getty Images (since they are showing our royalty-purchased imagery illegally), and preparing a load of documentation should we require legal intervention. Has anyone here ever used these guys, know these guys, or have any information on them? I tried calling them, but got a voice message system. I'll try again tomorrow. WHOIS info for CreonixMedia
in case you are not aware, from the whois data, they are based in indonesia... so that could be the reason why you only managed to get their voicemail...
I'm aware, but their phone numbers on their site must be registered to SOMEONE in the U.S., and I aim to find out if it is the people listed on the About Us page. It's actually a bit flattering, but they're going to be pursued relentlessly regardless.
I'm working on it. I have a little surprise for these guys up my sleeve, which I'll post here shortly...
As promised, a little something to encourage a prompt response: http://www.creonixmedia.net/ http://www.creonixmediasucks.com/ If you visit these sites (they go to the same location), please click the link to their site, so their traffic logs will cal attention to our efforts. Thanks
can I just ask a bit of an off topic question here. How did you find these guys. I mean did someone tell you about this site, do you do periodic checks for your content on google. Please let me/us know as I'm really interested.
www.copyscape.com I moderate for a few different forums, and we use CopyScape regularly to catch e-crooks. It's really a fantastic tool.
Thanks for the well-wishes. We are hoping, and we are confident, it will not come down to legal action. The fact of the matter is that anyone with any amount of pride would be ashamed to use someone else's design, and anyone with that little creative/intellectual capacity or integrity is going to have a very short-lived career. So, no matter what, we'll come out on top.
Quick Update: their host has suspended their site, after a good bit of faxing, emails and phone calls on our part. We'll see if they stay down or if they try to launch on another server again.
