Credit Card Issues

    Hi guys,

Just wondering if this is legal. A domain company has my credit card details on file but the card had expired. I then got a new card with a new expiry date. They then somehow got the details of my new card and used it without my consent. Is this legal? Are they allowed to do this? Not the billing part... but obtaining my new card details and using it without my consent. Any help appreciated. Thanks :)

    Well

I would say that is not legal, but the first thing I'm thinking is did you read their policy. Because sometimes they might have something in their terms of service that might allow them to do things like that. Though I doubt that would be in the contract. So it sounds very wrong, very very wrong. So talk to their customer service and see whats going on

Yeah thanks for that. Just reading around the web, this company has done it to other people too. Some of these big companies just do what they want and leave the small guy to try to extract justice. It sucks.

if they make any transactions without your consent this is definitely fraudulent
I sudjest you call your creditcard company and have them cancel all the transactions made by this company

but why would the credit card company give the details in the first place?

just because I use a CC at some place, doesn't mean that the CC company will give the merchant my new card details too.

I think that is illegal (I may be wrong).

I suggest your write to your CC company and ask for an explanation.

if your credit card is same number (before and after renewal) i guess any charge to the card will go through easily. i dont think it has anything to do with getting your credit card details.

How did they get the new card details without you giving it to them?? Sorry but that's quite hard to believe. Plus you are liable for protecting your credit card information.

Really this is strange, how did they manage to get your new card and bill it. Get in touch with your bank and also file a complaint with the police because that is something without your consent.
