Definitely Open Office. I use it all the time now for my word processing too but it super easy for pdfs as you don't have to do anything special or learn a program. Just create a document and then save as pdf. Be warned though depending on your internet access it is a monster to download. I've occasionally had troubles due to the size of the file but if you plan ahead it isn't that big a deal.

Open Office is definitely the best choice straight out of the box. There are lots of .pdf print spoolers and conversion software out there....just Google.

Most will convert or print to file, you'll need certain others to natively edit a .pdf

Open Office needs you to install another huge Office suite in your PC which I think is unnecessary since most of us is already using MS Office.

Google Cute PDF writer. It works well with any word and spreadsheet processing software. It will be integrated with the Print function. When you are done typing your word document, proceed to Print, choose Cute PDF as your printer.

A dialog box will pop up telling you to choose a location where you want to place your PDF files. "Print" it and a PDF file will be produced!

Minor installation is what this little software boasts about.

I have a solution, and it is called Google Docs!

Simply create your document online using Google Docs, and save it as a PDF...

No need to install any software.

Google Docs is the future of Web, that is how all services & software are going to be in the next 5 years... online!

KillaKlown, Adobe Acrobat is primarily NOT a document creation tool - although you can edit, to an extent, documents in PDF form.

I have to recommend this as well. In the OO Writer, you just go to 'File' menu, then 'Export to PDF'. I use OpenOffice for all my document needs as well, and it is truly a nice replacement for Windows Office...especially for FREE! I can have a copy on all my computers without skyhigh prices if I were to purchase MS Office for everything.
