I had a SEO firm I am considering contracting tell me that creating more than 100 backlinks per month doesn't look " natural" to Google. i.e. Beware! . Another firm told me that they would generate 200 per month. What level do you think is OK, /links per month gray dangerous
I will not worry about it at all. Why? it takes time for search engines to find these links. it does not matter whether the links were created in one day or one month.
there is no set rule. you can build as many as you want per month given that you keep up with it. 100 or 300 links wont make it suspicious to google. it is only suspicious when you build 100 link in one month and then nothing month after. google likes to see natural linking pattern so a site that has 100 links this month will naturally get more than 100 next month or atleast something similar. i suggest you start slow and gradually increase the number of backlinks. if you do 100 this month, then do another 100 - 150 next month, 200 month after and so on till you get your site ranked. after that you can just do routine maintainable or occasional link building just to make sure your ranking doesn;t drop
Thanks for sharing sultanofseo I think as important is where are you getting these links? Are you getting them from commenting on blog posts that have been spammed to death for the past 2 years or are you getting them from quality sources? You could write one killer article that goes to the frontpage of Digg which gives you 300 unique links in 1 day but nothing for the rest of the month. But, it was very natural link building.
There is no set amount of links that will flip some switch at Google. If a site posted something really newsworthy it could get thousands of new links over night and not suffer any penalty. Google obviously has some very sophisticated methods for determining the quality, legitimacy and "naturalness" of links. If your domain is older and has some PR, than it's probably easier to build a higher amount of links. Simon
That's simply a myth. 100 backlinks in a month is nothing. Nobody is going to notice that and penalise your site even if the links get indexed in the exact same day (which is pretty much impossible). For old domains it's OK to build as many backlinks as possible - just make sure to vary the anchor text a little bit. New domains might get a temporary penalty for thousands of low quality backlinks in a short period of time but after a few weeks they come back stronger than before. I never worry to build too many backlinks.
right! its important to use varied anchor text as using one specific anchor text to build all the links will be suspicious and will be considered as over optimization. @ zexy, good to see you around. havn;t seen you in a while, where have you been?
100 links per month is definitley no big deal at all. I know people who build thousands of links per month to direct back to the website. The thing to remember is that google is not going to index all of these links all at once. Some of them won't get indexed at all.
Oh no now I am confuse I am a noob and I've read many articles that I should not build more than 10 links in a day else I will be marked as SPAM by Google Who is telling the truth? any reliable response there?
I can share my experience on it . We wanted to create links for our site and hired an agency . They built around 20 high PR links in 1 week ( but all totally irrelevant websites ) . In 1 week saw that Google had slapped us ( then it took a months time to get normal ) . So my suggestion even if lots of links are buildin a short period , try to build in relevant sites .
No problem with 100 or 300 links per month. All you need to make sure is that those 100 or 300 links must not be coming from the same domain. Variation is necessary in terms of links and anchor text.
I don't think that's true because it takes time for Google to index all those links, sometimes even took them to index 3 months or more so doing more than 100 links per month is not an issue here.
