Creating more nichie under one domain?

I was thinking and do some brainstorms to register each domain for each topic but couldn't think or some domains that have been taken. So is it alright to create a subdomain for different topics? I just wanted to gather a small storm and make it as big as possible :D

    Gimme an idea guys

1 site with 50 pages is better than 5 sites with only 10 pages. ;)

I've been thinking about this topic recently myself. I can see no reason as to why you can't have multiple subdomains concentrating on different topics. I will be implementing this myself in the next few weeks to see how it turns out.

It'll turn out just fine. Don't worry too much. Just create good, quality content. I used to register domains for specific uniques and at the same time created different uniques on the same domain and they tuned out quite equal, but the domain with multiple unique kind of had a slight edge over the rest. And new domains take forever to get in the serps.

I'd suggest that the new subdomains that you plan to make should be related or complimenting the topics of your existing site. Making a completely non-related site on a subdomain might not be a good idea.

I think the guys are right - if you have a site about medicine and start subdomain about carpentry, it wudnt be good. But having a subdomain about technology in relation to medicine would complement the main site.

Would having the word of a topic on your site in the subdomain hold the same value if that word was instead a folder name?

Does Google add more weight with subdomains than folders? Does anyone know?

Personally I'd have thought more importance would be given to a subdomain, although a subdomain would be more seperated from the rest of the site.

Great thread... I have a domain name youre-infosource.com that I want to use to put unrelated sites under as subdomains ie. golf.youre-infosource.com, creditcards.youre-infosource.com, etc. If I submit each subdomain as it's own site to the search engines, do you think that will work. My thought is to have them as their 'own' sites, rather than tied together under an index page.

If that makes any sense the way I explained it... :)

Sounds good to me. I've got a resource domain which is similar.

I've started selling info-products on several different topics on the domain, and to make it obvious that it's all one site I'll be doing some branding with PR and articles to try to make the site into a real destination.

    Good luck with your project.

    Cheers
