Since I have not been able to view product links I was wondering if it would be possible for me to "modify" a keyword link to link to a particular product instead of the homepage of the advertiser. I currently am trying to get my blog up and running, it's still in it's infancy so it's not seeing a whole ton of traffic yet (working on that as we speak). However I'm also trying to integrate product links into my blog posts. For example when I wrote my article on HDMI cables, I want to have that keyword (HDMI Cable) link to an advertiser's specific site about buying an HDMI cable. Not their main page. I currently am doing this trick with Amazon, but I've come to the conclusion that the amazon affiliate program kinda sucks and I switched to CJ instead because of better commissions, I work directly with vendors, and the cookies don't expire so quickly. (http://connection-guru.blogspot.com/2007/03/hdmi-cables-what-are-they-and-how-do-i.html) Can I do this? Or is it going to be against the rules if I do modify the links? Thanks for any input!
Many advertisers have specific text links where you can modify the destination URL. Look for something like "Advertiser allows URL redirects for this link", and just input the url you want you visitors to end up on.
Some advertisers offer product catalogs through CJ to generate direct links, and others will have ways to generate links directly from their sites. Some advertisers don't offer this, however. Contact the account manager for the affiliate program directly, and they'll tell you how to redirect properly if redirection is allowed.
I've had good luck with the redirect feature but not all merchants offer it, unfortunately. You can find out if it's available by going to the Link Detail page and clicking Get Javascript or Get HTML. If you see a Destination URL field in the form that opens up you can create a link to whatever page you want just by entering it there.
