hiya I came across a thread which a link to a site with hundreds of directories and went to all the UK ones (i only deliver to the UK) .. but a lot of them are family friendly so i cant put my store in. When i first created the store, and found out how to get seen on the search engines i got some adult directories from doing a search on google but to be honest not a lot of them have worked out. They were reciprical (sp?) and although i put their links on my site, i never got a link back in return. From what i have read in here, and a couple of other places, getting links to your site really helps, so does anyone know of any reputable/decent places to link back to my store. Many thanks for any help/advice you can give Erica
Hi, Here are a couple of lists of search engine friendly directories that you can look through to see which ones allow adult-related sites: http://www.directorycritic.com/ http://top.seo-links.org/ Some directories are free without reciprocal links required and others you have to pay, usually a small fee, to be listed and then you don't need to link back to them. I'd focus on one-way links instead of reciprocal as reciprocal probably won't count nearly as much. Check the page where your link will be placed and make sure that it has been recently cached by google so that google actually finds your link and that it has a good pr value preferrably. You may also want to join an adult-related forum and put a link to your store in your signature and make some useful posts. This probably won't do much in google but msn still seems to like this. Hope you find something. Brian.
Thank you Brian I've started to go thru those links and submitted to a couple already. I have another question if thats ok .. and this one i think is possibly really stupid lol. I know that these directories are not so much for people to do searches and find a store, that they are more for the links to your site for search engines to find (or so i have been led to believe anyway lol) .. anyway, my question is this .. my store only delivers to the UK at the moment. Do i need to stick to UK directories only, or does it not matter so long as i get the links Thanks again Erica
Hi Erica, That's a good question actually. I wouldn't restrict your links to UK-based websites. Get links from wherever you can if they are quality links. I haven't seen your site but the search engines probably don't know where you deliver and you might have informative stuff on there for all they know so I would go for links from anywhere as long as it's on a relevant page. Also, use keywords in the anchor text (the text that is clickable) if you want to get ranked for that keyword. Check out this keyword tool http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword/. It's the best free one out there that I can find. I entered Adult Store and UK and a bunch of options came up. Hope that helps, Brian.
Most of the directory submission services in the buy sell and trade par of this forum will take adult links no problem. Other than that the best thing is to just buy the links.
thank you both, Brian and mad4 .. and Brian .. i think that tool might come in handy, as at the moment the keywords on ALL of my pages are the same, so i need to go thru all the pages and change them .. doh! @ me ! lol You never know .. i might actually get ranked if i carry on like this lolololol Erica xx
