Just more proof that there's no god.

That's amazing. I was reading more about it, and thought this was interesting...

I'll copy this from my previous post for those who don't know much about this project:

This is not an efficient creation of life for 2 main reasons.
    why?
    1) They used Mycoplasma genitalium. One of the smallest bacteria that exists. It doesn't have a complex system. It was an easy target and its genome is very small; therefore, can be replicated.
    2) The molecular machinery and chemical environment used were not synthetic! They used a recipient cell to boot up the synthetic chromosome.

This is what Dr. Venter (the scientist leading this project) had to say when asked about it:

Venter himself maintains that he has not created life . "We've created the first synthetic cell," he says. "We definitely have not created life from scratch because we used a recipient cell to boot up the synthetic chromosome."

So a lot of manipulations were done in this experiment. I completely respect Venter's work but that was not creation. It was a clever way of doing it though and it will have many benefits in the scientific field such as production of mass bio-fuels cheaply and the drug industry.

i think it doesn't prove it....
this artificial life is created by someone..
so i think the first life is created by something too..
i don't say that created the first life is God.
i would like to say that created the first life is nature, the process that occurred in nature...
but then who is creating nature? is it created itself?
I still can't answer it, and you can't answer it too, i think.
i don't say that God is truly existed, but i also don't say that there's no God.

still no one can answer it....

See even if there's some greater power which created the world and life..it's certainly not what religions want you to believe. If there's god, he created everyone naked but is worried about why people don't cover their hair? He created love/hormones/whatever but wants people to have sex only after signing a peice of paper? He created homosexuals but wanted them to be segregated from the society?

Sorry I don't believe that crap. There might be a higher power which created all this but worshiping it solves no purpose, its just some kind of matter or energy with a different kind of intelligence. Computers have intelligence, they can create things, but they are not animates. Hope you get my point.

This story is quite interesting. I find it scary too. People are now able to achieve what was only thought to be capable in movies. I am sure this will have positive and negative affects on society.

This is the evolution of religion. Notice he didn't negatively deny the science, but instead pushed on the positive of religion (Providing meaning to life). I actually agree with his positive, though one can find meaning for their life in philosophy, without the constraints of religion. Looking at the New Testament as a book of philosophy(ignoring revelations), it actually has quite a bit of value (in my opinion).

Interesting. Huimans have been around for what a few million years? The universe... billions of years. Seems pretty obvious that this being we call God is/was just another species who cooked US up in a test tube.

i don't think this disproves God. This proves humans have talent.

I agree. This can also prove God's biggest mistake. Creating human as his duplicate.

The quality of life is the real mission, the A-Bomb is a creation as well.

Nothing really new in their experiment but what is cooking in their own brains is what to look out for.

their positive attitude has limit I think!
as you know people no longer like to see fanatics, Vatican has to compromise and care to tell their desire obviously I think.

I'm hoping that we will eventually be able to create better humans, because the current batch sucks.

I guess it become so hard to hide science projects. beside scientists love to announce their success.

Will be good for other plants I think. as God create us for plant of the Earth!
