I am not sure about this, however I have read google policy but am not sure whether I am allowed to create ad as an affliate of some product and the domain that will be in the ad would simply be redirecting to the affliate site. (for example domain in ad url would be abc.com/program and it will simply be redirecting to affliate site) Can I do that.?
It should work... but sometimes Google might pause your campaign because of a "wrong display URL". - Hannes
Thanks for the response. I was just concerned about implementing this. dont want to break any rules/policies. I will give this a try. Does anyone here had any success with implementing this strategy, that is pointing users to the landing page of your affiliate. Did you make any sale ?
If I understood the question correctly you want to use your site www.xyz.com and redirect traffic to a different site using your site (ie. www.xyz.com/ebay). Google will not allow this stating that this is an innacurate URL.
The Display URL (at least the .xyz.com part of it) needs to be exactly the same as where the searcher ends up when they click on your ad. Any redirecting that goes on is irrelevant. So your display URL is widgets.com Widgets are a CJ affiliate and the link in your ad is the one provided by CJ The searcher clicks on your ad, they go to CJ and then get redirected to widgets.com This is all normal and Google has no problems with it.
The best way to get round the Google policy on affiliates is to create a framed version of the merchants page i.e. instead of sending someone to your affiliate url, you instead send them to a page on your site which contains the merchants site and your affiliate code As an example I am an affiliate for the FreeStoreClub, but when I advertise on Google I send the traffic from the ad to a page on my site called http://www.ebiz4every1.com/mystore This page is actually a framed version of the merchants page, and has been accepted by Google without any problems It is always good policy when advertising anything as an affiliate to always use a framed version of the merchants page, if you dont, then you run the risk that people will try and get round your affiliate codes - i.e. they will buy the product without your receiving any credit from the merchant
ok so I can do this ? suppose I am an affiliate for mp3 music. I have my own domain mymp3music_dot_com and this is what I advertise. When someone clicks on it they go to my site and then redirected to say mp3_dot_com which is an affiliate. I did that and I got a message from google that the display url is incorrect "Inaccurate Display URL". So what should I do ? I dont want this url in display "myname_dot_affiliate_dot_clickbank_dot_net". This something I want to avoid ? hope I am clear on what I am trying to do as most would have come across this. Sorry this forum doesnt allow me to write domain/url as an example
Hey man, you can do this according to the ToS. If I'm understanding you correctly, you mean you want to have your affiliate link (for like cj or clickbank) as the destination URL and the actual destination as the Display URL. As long as the actual end destination is displayed as the Display URL, it's fine. I've been doing this for a while and Google hasn't said anything. Plus, I read through their ToS just to be safe, and as far as I can tell this is accepted. Just make sure that the display URL is actually part of the url the user will be taken to. The down side to using this approach is that it will make your CPC go wayyyy up. I'm talking like $5-10/click. In any case, good luck. - Scott
The new rule is not that you "can't" advertise affiliate links dirrectly. What is happening is google wants to imporve the range of avertisments its users see. So, they will no longer display the 'same' url on one search page of results. So, if you use a doorway or landing page (as you should anyway) you will have no problems.
