Creating Buzz

What are the best ways to create buzz and get a lot of RSS subscribers, traffic, and people linking to you?

Curious to know from people that have tried many different ways and failed. I know the regular ways myspace, digg, running a contest, but what else?

 

Simple - make a powerful blog post. Don't like how someone is doing something? Call them out.

 

Linkbait or being an a$$hole.

 

Actually shoemoney and John Chow did something really smart to create a buzz for their site and rss feeds, they held a competition on how could get the most rss subscriptions within a limited time.

Yeah I thought that wasn't a bad idea jones, but I would just be starting out so that would not work near as well. I care more about people liking what I say then just subscribing because.

 

Have you thought about a Pre-launch phase? That way just focus on building up your list (your prospects) then sell to them. Just a suggestion.

Money is very important but what's even more important is having good connections. Friends that can help you spread the word is a priceless commodity that few people around the internet have.

 

At least ask your visitors to kindly subscribe to your RSS. There is a wordpress plugin you can install that does this automatically.

i love how shoe is worshipped on this forum but infact johnchow.com is a much better site and he crushed shoe in the rss subscription contest while shoe was even giivng away "$10,000 worth of shit"

 

You need to do or say something controversial, or some sort of viral marketing like a funny picture (watermarked with your blog URL) or video that people will pass around.

 

I was about to say something along those same lines, but in fact, Shoe gained 7,000 subscribers on the final day and won.

 

shoe gained 4403 on the final day.

Best way to build buzz, is to learn how to dominate and make your presence known in a particular niche. Then elude to and suggest plans about a product, service, or program that is highly targeted to that niche as an issue that needs to be resolved.

 

One way to create buzz is by making a wacky video and putting it up on youtube. Look at all the crazy videos on there, always room for more.
