Creating backlinks?

I know what exchanging links is, but what exactly is a backlink?

 

backlinks means links to your site.
that means if I am placing your site link in my site.u will get a backlink from my site.

 

Yep, backlinks are basically just links that point back to your website. Backlinks are good because they can help your website to rank higher in the search engines and gain PR. Also, links on other high traffic, related sites will cause some direct traffic to your own site, and that is always good too.

Well as far as we know it helps to gain higher in the search engines. Currently, there is a whole big thing if backlinks actually do a good job or not. Now people are saying having more premium content will help you rank higher... well it will but the emphasis on it is much more greater then say, 3-4 months ago.

I myself do believe backlinks help, but of course we will never actually know. As Inisheer said, it will help with PR etc but most importantly, people visiting it via direct traffic. That in itself is gold.

Just try and secure your website with many backlinks as you can...but be warned, don't go all BlackHat SEO, Google will never forgive you

Can we get backlinks through forums as well? How about blog commenting??

 

yes you can get through forums and blogs or directors Submitions

but try to choose the big one to do links in

 

Also make sure all the websites you are putting your links in are do follow. If they aren't then google won't check them and it won't help at all

 

And how do you know if they are do follow?

 

It's not exchanging links - or 'link exchange'. Backlinks are just links that point to your site; 'exchanging' links implies that you're giving a link back in return.

For instance; if you post an image link on my site then you'll get a backlink - I don't ask for a reciprocal link in exchange so the link is one-way.

There are numerous ways to increase backlinks...

These include writing and submitting articles to article directories, trading links with other webmasters, posting in forums with your link in the signature, and so on.

All of these methods work.
