What is better to concentrate on for SEO purposes: 1. Article building and submission to article sites. 2. Creating articles and posting them just on your website. I know when you create articles and submit them to article directories you get a backlink, but I have found that it is better to submit one article per article site vs. submitting that same article to multiple article sites. I was wondering if had 100 articles and instead of submitting them to article sites it would be better if you took those articles and kept them on your own site either through a blog or an article section. Has anyone run any tests to see what works out better? Assuming that all the articles are created equally, meaning they are all decent articles but nothing link bait worthy. In other words, the articles are well written but fairly basic and nothing that you would want to bookmark. I am interested in your feedback.
Whichever is the best, I think should only be posted on your sites. Only those which you feel is less important or unique, something like a spinoff from other articles are used only for article directories just to get the backlinks. That's what I always do.
Exactly. All of my really good content is on my blog. I still write good content with articles but just not as lengthy, unique, and well thought out as what I do for the blog.
I think you should write quallity articles for your site first. You can alter them slightly and submit those to the article sites.
This is two different promotion techniques that deliver two different results. Article sites: Targeted traffic, viewers who make their way to you site are more likely to stay which is helps with seo efforts, creates one way links, Your site: Expand your reach, target specific types of people
Thanks for everyone's comments. I really want to get feedback on this and wondering if anyone else has thought about this or tested it out. Has anyone run a test to see which technique worked better for the site in terms of search engine rankings? I am not even sure if this is measurable. For example, say you want to rank well for the term "widget". I guess it comes down to what the search engines value more: - The article site with the "widget" text in a link - or - - The article on your site with the phrase "widget" in it. Now, I know there are differences in the competitive nature of the keyword phrases, but lets say for testing purposes that the keyword is not competitive at all. Say it is "extra large green widget". Would it be better to have: - The article site with the "extra large green widget" text in a link - or - - The article on your site with the phrase "extra large green widget" in it. Part of me still thinks that taking the article and just posting it online with a link back to your site will have more seo power than taking that same article and posting it on your site. Then another part of me is wondering that I am wasting all of these articles on article directories and they are getting all the "long tail" keyword traffic associated with the article. Any one else have anymore feedback?
Articles for article sites are mainly used for website promotion, articles on your website are for content. You don't have to write a lengthily text (article) and post it on some article site just to have a few keywords in inbound links, it's too much time-consuming.
If you are creating 100 articles then post all of them to your site first. Wait until they have been indexed by Google. Then make your best articles exclusive to your site and submit the rest of them to as many article directories as possible.
