creating anchor text in wordpress

I looked through the different forums and thought this would be the most appropriate for this topic.

I have started a blog on my site and am wanting to add some anchor text in it using my keywords. Just a few questions

    1. How do you go about doing this. Is it a plugin that I need to install?

    2. If my blog is located on my actual site and not in the root folder will placing some anchor text there help me at all with my site ranking for my keywords.

    3. What are some other ways that I can use my blog to help my rankings?

Hi Ruffman. Congrats on your blog. I'm quite new myself, so I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. I think I know, but I'm not sure. There is an entire forum dedicated to blogging here. Maybe you can ask your question over there. It's a sub-forum under Content Management. Good luck! :)

In the wordpress editor, highlight the text, click the insert link button - in the pop up box there are 4 options:

    URL
Open in - new window or self.
    Anchor text
    Class

The option you are asking about is already built into wordpress.

If that is not enough, click the HTML tab in the article, and edit the link text directly.

    Kev,

You are the man (or women). I will test this out. So no plugin needed, right?

Also, you mentioned editing the HTML, I know how to do this, but where is the option at on Wordpress?

Hello there Armyqt, how do we keep running into each other? :)

I am not sure if my reply is what he was looking for. At least now he has more options.

Unless someone is inserting a LOT of links into each post, editing the HTML and inserting your own anchor text only takes a few seconds.
