    Hey guys,
Since DP has been a HUGE inspiration to everything I have done, I figured I'd ask you guys for help again:) . I am creating an AIM like instant messenger program with alot of cool new features and it completely kicks AIM's butt, by FAR.
So could you please post your suggestions, something that AIM, YIM, or MSN doesn't have that you'd really really like... or maybe just something you'd like improved.
Thanks guys so much for your help
    Mike

Has anybody heard of the Odigo chat and messaging thing? It has filters for location, hobbies, interests and so forth. You can get in touch with people that share the same values and ideas as you.

You forgot to mention skype too... they have the potential to make it better since they load quickly ;)

    What about:
    - animated avatars (AIM has it though)
    - better webcam options
    - video recording function?
    - no bandwidth limit

Will it be a downloadable client? And how will you do it.. Sounds very very pricey (hosting wise).

Very good point.. especially if it becomes popular, they would use up a lot of bandwidth unless you limit uploads/sending via online.

You would have to make sure it is compatible with everything, is fast, has a clean gui and no ads!

That is the only way I would use the new alternative, but good luck!

no ads to start. Once you get lots of people using it, make a PRO version of the program ad free and put ads on the free version.

Create a revenue sharing messenger? The more you chat, the more chances your advertisement with your id will come out? Anyway, the advertisement can either in CPM or the advertisement cannot be shown in the user's network to prevent user or his friend clicking on the advertisement.

    Just a thought ...
