I'm thinking of starting up a web proxy to help pay for the cost of a server I'm thinking about renting. I know the proxy market is very saturated right now, however, but I still want to go ahead with it. How many visitors would I need at my proxy to make $30/month? How hard is promoting a web proxy?
My friend owns 15 proxies and he makes about $1k a month. It is a saturated market, but to promote you should just post it on forums and what not.
Any web proxy i have owned, i haven't promoted. Add it to proxy.org, post on some forums. Hard to say how many visitors you will need to make $30 but i doubt you'd need loads. All depends if you are just running Adsense or popups etc etc..
do you know any proxy scripts?I'm using one right now but its not that good...tell me a good proxy script i can use...thanks
Promoting a proxy site is very easy, I used to have a proxy site until my hosting company suspended me (they shouldn't offer you "unlimited bandwidth" since it's not true) and let me tell you that the only promotion that I did was $20 bucks in adwords and submited to five proxy sites. On my second day I was getting 250 uniques, on my third day 300, on my third day 400. PhpProxy CGI proxy
Another question I have to add is: How do you cover the legal risk of owning a proxy (illegal use by hackers/surfers)? is there a script that is "smart" enough to block that? Maybe a TOS contract?
Which leaves enough time to get it listed and promoted all ready for September if you start now right? Also - there are people using it for privacy and not only kids.
many proxies open everyday if i were you i make a site like proxy.org i have about 5 sites every one generates about .70-1$ a day from google adsense with 300 impressions
I have one proxy. Did not spend a penny promoting it. The page with adsense gets around 90 page views per day and it amounts to around 30$ per month. One of the biggest problems with proxies is that you have to get dedicated hosting to host them.
