Creating a successful blog in tandem with eCommerce

I am working on a fishing blog that will review certain products, provide helpful weather information, provide tips and techniques for all anglers, and more. I will be writing blogs myself as well as other fisherman who are locally respected in the area. Many of the authors including myself have a good set of credentials when it comes to fishing and have appeared on magazines and/or major websites.

I want to brand a separate ecommerce store where I can point any fisherman who has read the product review and is interested in purchasing the company. I have already talked to several vendors and have drop shipping agreements with them to sell their products. A few will be sending me free gear to beat on and review.

How subtle should I be with the eCommerce store? Should I choose a totally different brand? Also I have no problem putting ads that link to other fishing stores on my site. I won't be able to sell every type of fishing product on my site. I just will be selling higher margin items, but will not be selling lower margin items like lures.
