Hi guys, I've had this idea for some time, but am not shurre if I've got the investments it takes to finish it , and guess there's nothing better than asking a good and experienced programmer from this section . So in general the whole work is based on a site that's the best in it's cat - sitepoint.com. The basic programming my project would require would be the marketplace section only, minus some of it's options. Besides the basic design, the parts strictly necessary for opening the website would be, a basic user interface (like user cp at dp) , a submission form&thread (like sitepoint's , with attachments in right sidebar) , and some other ideas which are simple and can be added further. I am not sure it's worth so I guess I should ask people more experienced in such stuff, so... what do you think ? feel free to ask any details. (if more simple , how much would it cost to program a sitepoint marketplace interface without bids ? )
got some info on the fact that it's quite expensive the way I described, but let me put it that way... General Looks: -header and navbar; -3 columns in threads ; 2 columns in listings ; - first column shows simple ads/links etc. - 2nd column are the threads (same like at forums, that can be taken from phpbb) - 3rd column only in the thread itself as some pictures(fits to my idea/niche) and maybe a more innovate homepage; the user interface can be taken free from phpbb or vbulletin. Simply taken, it's same arrangement of sitepoint, but with only 2-3 functions : a listing, a rating , and a user interface for comments, pms etc. How much now?
I don't think its worth anymore coz there already have a lot of similar site out there. The fair price to setup such site is around $600 with the bid auction.
no, off course not same sitepoint stuff, (i'm sometimes stupid...but not entirely ) . I guess I did a bad comparison, that's why it costs that much. My actual Idea is quite different, but should use same user interface and the same nice page arrangement. But with a totally different function. I don't need the bid script, nor the user verification system etc. But there's some work that needs done too... And yea ... I guess a exact sitepoint plus design is worth about 600$, but to al least show up in search engines near sitepoint , you'll need a bunch of advertising investments, otherwise it'll be useless. On the other hand sitepoint isn't only the marketplace, most of the money being from their ebooks sell. There's one thing for sure ... if you need a site better than sitepoint ... you'll find a way
