Hi I have just downloaded Site Map Builder. My website has about a dozen pages, do you have to create a sitemap of the whole site or just start from the home page, which is linked to all the others. If I create a map of the whole site there would be duplicate links all over the place in the map, so I thought just the home page and that will show all the pages linked from it. Also when you create a map is it best to have the prioritized pages in order with highest priority at the top. Or is google not bothered which order the mapped pages are listed. Dave
Scantime, the software is smart enough to figure out duplicate entries and it will only create a map of your actual site. Placement in the sitemap is insignificant. You can set the "priority" and other things like "change frequency" to let google know what you think about those things. Priority in Google sitemaps let's them know the relative priority of a page compared to other pages on your site.
That's right - Google is not concerned with the order of URLs within the sitemap. But I would suggest setting your frequency and priority values on a per URL basis. Actually with a site so small, doens't Google already have you fully indexed?
U should see http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ This is a great solution to generate online sitemap for google and that too, for free.
