Hi Folks, I'd like to add a search engine for my site -- but I'm pretty much a rookie at website design... is there a slick and/or relatively easy way to do this? Thanks for your help! -FizziksGuy

It depend what do you want to. If you want add an google or other search engine textbox than take look at google (or other se) API. There are ready scripts you will need to insert on your site. But if you need some kind of tool through YOUR pages (page), you should get familiar with string manipilation functions in javascrpt. With more advanced queries regular expressions might be useful. I'm sure you will find a lots of ready scripts for this task. A good idea is to start search among jQuery plugins.
Without a doubt the easiest (and cheapest) of the options researched turned out to be Google Customized Search Engine (Just search for Google CSE). Thanks much everyone!
I'd recommend going here and generating a custom site search using Google's Engine: http://www.google.com/cse/
