Note: Mods or Admin, Don't ban me for this, its just my thought due to my experience. I have been regular on DP since about 15 days. I am on DP for about 8 hours a day. On DP my experience was real good in terms of users because the people are enthusiastic, some real business. But if I look at the DP services, I mean the technicality of the forum, it always disappointed me. I have been facing loads of issues everytime, some of them are as below: 1.SOme times i face unique problems like threads dont show up. 2. PMs pretend to be NEW when they are already read. So I think i will leave DP soon There are many more i can list out. I think the only reason behind this is that the ADMIN or MODS are busy and they are inactive these days, or DP has become so big that they cant manage to moderate everything everyday. Since I am online almost entire day, this idea came into my mind. I was thinking to start a new forum, which would be inspired by DP. I will try to make it better & clean place for good business, webmastering tips etc. But as you guyz know that a forum is nothing without the users, so i wanted to know that how many people actually liked this idea. I am ready for negative comments. But before posting negative comments please understand that this came into my mind because my bad experience. Thanks, Nishant.
I also came across loads of issues. But maybe this is not the job of admin. It is the problem about server compter. There are too many visitors. Its my opinion.
imo, not being skeptical Yes you can built just like DP forums has but the problem is, you might not get the same amount of traffic that dp has.
Traffic is the key but not all the traffic are quality I have to admit new dp will take 5 or 6 years to get where original dp are today
well for real dp is having some issues wit it server which need to be fixed.. there are lots of error ,, for your idea for creating new dp.. There have been 1001 clones of DP and the admins for those forums are struggling to pay the hosting fees and more then half of them have been parked domains now. so in my opinion its not so good idea ,, but yes if you have somehting creative and new for us and new webmasters then for sure we will join you and suppot you
You should work for a couple of years, or spend thousands advertising if you want to be as half as big as DP
Absolutely that is what it is. There are caching issues, clustering issues, failover issues, daily hacking attempt issues, and so on. With the amount of traffic that they get they are doing pretty good I think. I guarantee that they are working on all of these issues daily and probably have a cluster of servers and admins. If not they should have. As for starting up another DP......if this is what you enjoy then do it. Nothing ventured nothing gained....correct? Best of Luck to you.
Those problem is a common problem for big forum. For the 1st problem is due to the update problem when too many people open new thread at the same time. While for 2nd problem is due to the cache problem.
I am new here and I met some similar problems. But I am still amazed at the traffic of DP and its active forums.
- DP is one of the few Webmaster Forums on the Internet that is not overly "commercialized" (alot of advertising)- which I think has contributed to it's success.
My problem with DP is that I have to login for atleast 6-7 times before I get my authencication confirmed
Their are already too internet marketing / web master forums out there, I don't suggest making another.
a site this big and popular is bound to have technical issues from time to time. DP is one of the biggest forums in the world, and it's amazing it manages to keep service up to THIS level! Don't believe me, go get a job at a big forum, and welcome to techie hell.
I agree with the posts above. You wont be able to get such traffic unless you ask Google to transfer there search engine rankings to yours
The 2nd problem happens to me EVERY time I get a new PM. It is so freaking annoying, because it always pops up and I have to close it out after every page I view. I tried turning that off, but it seems to change back right after I do it. So I usually can't visit the site until about a half hour after I got my last PM.
