Creating a digital shop

    Hi all
    I want to sell some digital content. Each product is a zip file containing some mp3s, pdfs, and text files coming between 10-30MBs. There'll probably be about 10 or 20 products total. So once the payment is made I'll need some kind of secure downloading method. I'll also need the ability for affiliates, promotional codes and newsletters.

    There's not a lot of products so I'd like something simple and fast. I know I have to get web hosting and I know some of them offer ecommerce, but do any offer secure digital download capabilities? Or is it better to get something like Prestashop, Magento or Opencart? Is there anything else I need to get? I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible thanks!

    For just a few products it might make more sense to program yourself, or try to find a Wordpress script to do what you want to do. Programming itself wouldn't be too hard; just create random directories where your zips reside, then have them deleted once they've been accessed.

    You can get an SSL Certificate installed for the website, this can help you in a variety of ways. One, it'd help gain trust of your visitors and second, it allow your website to communicate secured with your visitors browser. Which also means that all downloads would go about via. a secure encrypted channel.

    If you are accepting payments from your clients on your website then you must encrypt your website with SSL Certificate. Users confidential information like credit card details, password etc., should be encrypted.

    For secure downloading: You need to develop a program for secure download that automatically makes file password protected, when user download a .rar file on his PC he should be asked for password and password will be sent to his email. This would be more secure option for you.
