Hi, Do I need to have web-hosting to start creating a blog using wordpress or can I start creating it and get the hosting once I'm done. If so, how do I go about doing this as I've downloaded wordpress but I can't find an application in the zip folder. Thanks. P.s. Sorry, I'm a noob
If you want self domain + self hosted WP blog then yes you need a domain as well as web hosting for that first (you have downloaded wordpress already so you need to read readme first after unzip that for further procedure) ORelse go to wordpress.com and make one blog for yourself something like yourname.wordpress.com DON.
wordpress is not some application that can run on windows.. yes you can install wordpress on your system.. i would suggest you to download and install easyphp and you can install wordpress there by copying the wordpress files into easyphp's www folder.. now you will have to create a database and follow the installation instructions to have a wordpress blog workin on your localhost and it can be accessed by going to http://localhost/
Hosting is not a problem. Aside from the fact that hosting is becoming cheaper, draconian competition in hosting gives us a wide array of options.
To make things simple, buy your domain and hosting. Use the Fantastico control to install wordpress. Make things a lot easier.
why dont you do in the fantastico de luxe. you dont have to hassle yourself..just register a domain and host with cpanel and install the wordpress blog using the fantastico..instant site.
If you want to start blogging before you get your hosting and domain set up you could set up a free Wordpress blog on Wordpress.com and then once your blog is set up properly on your host and your domain too then you can export the Wordpress XML file and import it into your new blog
Also you seem a little tiny bit confused, Wordpress isn't like your normal computer applications that you open the setup file and pres next next next. Basically it's a content management system that you upload to your web hosting which will help you edit, add, delete content on your website with ease rather than doing it the old school way of editing the HTMl files everything you want to write a new blog post which would be an absolute nightmare.
u can create blog using free wp blog later on get ur domain and host and import ur blog content there. example of free blog : yourname.wordpress.com paid examples are my signature blogs. hope it will help.

Its simple, why you wanna get hosting and all that bla. Just get a nice blog somewhere on the hosted network like http://broadkast.me/ , its pure wordpress and a good way to promote as well. You can also use your own domain name if you like. Hope this helps.

If you are using worpress or blogpost blog then no worry about domain and hosting that is totally free and if u want purchase ur own domain and hosting then it depend on urs
Almost all of the web hosts that uses cPanel will have the fantastico, look at the features of the host to make sure while you purchase.

the hosting will of course give you a ftp account.. yoiu can use it to install the wordpress hosted site. just follow the instruction given by wordpress.org - sure you can find it there. just search it in their search box "installing wordpress"
