Creating a blog to repost interesting articles.

I am considering creating a blog to repost interesting articles on a specific topic that I find on other sites. I would specify that the article was reposted and give the URL of the original article. I would also keep the author / company name in the article.

Am I legally allowed to do this?

No. It's not legal. You cannot post the entire article without permission from the author, even if you credit the author and give a link back.

If you think the articles are interesting, quote a sentence or two from them, give credit to the author, then add your own comments. This is legal.

Better you should take the permission of the author before trying to this.

There are some sites that give you permission to republish articles if you follow all the terms and conditions.
For example, check out the terms for EzineArticles.com:
    http://ezinearticles.com/terms-of-service.html

However HKS28 is right, if you find an article on another site, you need to get explicit permission to republish on your own.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think I will just post a snippet of the article and a link to the article. I will also write my own commentary about the article.

or you could 'spin' the article to create a new one. It's what I do, and it's pretty successful.

That's not legal either, at least not in the United States. It is not ok to change the article without the permission of the copyright holder.
