Creating a backup of a wordpress.com blog?

    Is there any way to backup a 'free' blog at wordpress.com?

    In the event that my dream domain becomes available, I'd like to move my personal blog to my own hosting/domain.

    Wordpress.com allows you to export in the Wordpress Extended RSS form- contains posts, pages, tags, categories, comments etc.

    All the latest Wordpress.org versions allow you to import an WXR file.

    Thanks :) couldn't see the wood for the trees.

    Is there a simple way to save any uploaded images?

    EDIT - I'm doing it a clumsy way, but it works. Viewing my WP "Media Library" and using the FF extension DownThemAll to get all my pics
