I very new to this but want to do it right. What are some of the basic fundamental procedures for starting an affiliate marketing business? I don't expect to get rich quick and am willing to invest the appropriate time and money (as efficiently as possible) in order to build this into a business.... what are the things I need to consider and focus on?
I'm really looking for ideas or some really good long term methods to build affiliate marketing into a business. I have a lot to learn and i want to avoid as many mistakes as possible. I'm looking at this as an investment not just a quick money thing... theres so much rift raft out there its hard to get to the real life fundamentals...
If you're just starting out, you'd need at first to learn the following two most important things: 1) how to sell online and 2) how to generate traffic. The next steps (in brief) could be as follows: 1. Select a market and a niche within this market that you feel yourself comfortable with. 2. Choose an affiliate program offering a product or a service in the niche you have selected. 3. Build a simple 4-5 pages website to promote the affiliate program (WordPress blog would do well). 4. Start driving targeted traffic to your website from all possible free traffic sources. That's it.
Also might I add: get an autoresponder and build a list. Once you have a trained list, you'll be able to send offers to them regularly. Which means regular $$$!
Find out what your interst are that is what you should foucus on. Then find a product in your interest. If you are totally new I suggest you find yourself a mentor. As doing Im yourself can be very hard.
To start - think of what you could do to make $1, after you have that on autopilot, let that build for a little, gain some capital. My recommendation would be to get about $100-200, buy a webhosting account, spend the rest on domains, create autoblogs on them and just let them run for a little extra $
