Create new drive on hard disk for storage?

    I need to reinstall vista on my c drive but i have important files and such and was wondering if I could create a new drive as storage to keep my files safe? And if so, how can I?

    If you don't have any experience in creating a partition before, it is better for you to buy a USB flash drive or external hard drive to backup all your files.

    if you need to repartition existing drive I usually use partition magick

    Firstly, backup all your data is the safest way.
    Secondly, choose a suitable software to repartition it according to your OS.
    I used partition magic several years ago, it's good. But it has ended of marketing, and doesn't support new OS.
    I introduced easeus Partition master, repartition and resizing features are both great. You can download the free edition from download websites.

    acutally u could install vista over it and dnt worry abt losing ur data as long as u dnt format the drive.. but copying it out to a DVD or a flash driver is much safer

    reinstall when you do not need to format the partition
