It doesn't hurt to create one, but I've never seen any traffic from any of mine.

The Google penalty for Squidoo is over, and is still a valuable tool. All my lenses are between PR2-4, and bring in some extra income every month for me.

If you have the intentions of making a lens and just slapping a couple of links on it, then it won't be worth it at all. If you put some good content, or a good article on your lens, it is a great backlink to have. Squidoo works best with longtail keywords, too.

I never got that much traffic from Squidoo, and it has dropped since they got the penalty. I haven't done exact tests but it seems like HubPages is taking over traffic wise.

I don't know why people keep referring to the "penalty". The "penalty" is over, and only the quality lenses get traffic now, which is the way it should be. If you aren't getting traffic to your lens, it isn't because of the "penalty", it is because they aren't any good.

HubPages is also good. Both, HubPages and Squidoo, have their strengths and weaknesses.

If you create a lens that complements your site and has something to offer (does not need to be a huge quantity but should be quality) then it will benefit in terms of traffic and seo. The time involved to create a lens is minimal so even a small payback makes it worth the time.

I've never looked at HubPages. Huh!

As for Squidoo, I don't believe that there are many everyday webusers that actually know anything about it. I just don't know how many visitors hit it and I haven't yet seen any traffic from the two that I have out there.

I'm not saying it's bad, but may not be very effective (maybe if you put a lot of effort into the content and making it pretty).

Every service abused by webmasters loose benefits to webmasters over time. Let it be digg, hubpages, stumble upon, squidoo...

Just think of this way. When there are thousands and soon to be millions of pages in website, even if that site gets million of hit, what is the probability of your page getting a large number of visitors. It will provide traffic from longtails. I have seen people spend a lots of time on sqidoo and hubpages. I am not sure if the time spent is worth the traffic or not.

Squidoo made me about $300 last month and over $140 so far in November. I'd say it's worth it....

If you do a nice lens to compliment your site, it can't hurt. I have never got much traffic from Squidoo, but I believe every little bit helps! But, if you go and make a "spammy" lens, and it looks like one, it won't pay. And, it may discredit you in the eyes of your site visitors, if they go see your lens. Make it something that looks genuinely helpful and interesting, and you will look more professional.

If you use Squidoo to publish quality original content you will do well.

If it's to scrape articles and publish duplicate content then Google will continue to ignore you.

Its impressive you have made good amount. Any one else earned such amount or just he is the one. I am still not convinced to make lens.
