    Here are the facts:
    1. You certainly cannot enlarge images without serious degradation in Photoshop (or any other image editor I know of).

    2. You CAN do so in Benvista's "PhotoZoom Pro" software - IF:
If you start with a high enough quality image to begin with.
If you don't attempt to enlarge your image past the capability of PhotoZoom Pro's algorithms.
If you are willing to learn enough to use the program effectively (it's really not that hard).

    3. IN THEORY it's quite true that ANY enlargement (by the known methods) degrades the digital information in any image file. In practice, you can (with care) enlarge an image such that the amount of damage done is invisible to humans (or maybe 99%). This is no new concept. Images are compressed in image damaging formats like JPEG all the time, such that the damage is kept pretty much low enough to be invisible. A great many images could not be shown on the web in a realistic amount of time without doing this.

As a 3D modeler using a 3D to 2D "render engine", to get to the biggest image printing poster sizes, I would have renders lasting for days and weeks for each image - if my computer didn't hang first. So, I routinely render at 300 DPI and 3,072 pixels for the largest dimension - then carefully use PhotoZoom Pro to enlarge those to 12,000 pixels. My tests show that this works well.

    Hope this helps...

how did they create very large banner along the highway? for such thing 30 dpi is completely enouph, so you hava a large picture, but not a large file, or you can work with 300 dpi, but in 1:10 proportions.

Hi, you need hi res images for such banner. Otherwise apply effects on the image to hide the blur (textures can also help you do the job)
