In the timeline at the top of the analytics dashboard, you can click on the dot for the date, this will show a tooltip with a button to add an annotation.
Do u really think someone would be that stupid to ask that question here... This sounds like someone wants to sell signatures ...
Look, I've been on this forum for YEARS and have found it very helpful. I don't need to sell you anything and if you're not here for buying anything, you know what to do. I simply asked a question and thankfully a LIKE-MINDED professional answered (WC ROCKET, you are great!)
Hey WC, when I open my Analytics account, I have DAY, WEEK, MONTH buttons on upper right....where is that timeline you mention? In essence, I am still earning but my reports have flatlined as of Nov. 8th....
If you have multiple analytics accounts, you will need to be on the dashboard of the site account. You can get there from either the dropdown menu on the upper right part of the top orange bar, or by click on the name of the account on the left side of the accounts table. Once you are in the account, click on View Report. The next page is the Dashboard. The top part is the timeline, it will show the last 30 days by default. This is where you can click on the date to add an annotation.
Holy christ . . . can they make all that navigation a bit easier to sort through huh? It is a TOTAL MESS, graphs, charts, excessive links to other itemized charts, overview pages + maps and the lot. What the hell....let me just ask this: is it absolutely necessary to CREATE a new annotation? I asked initally, after noticing my report flatlined on November 8th, but am curious why it flatlined and then secondly if these annotations are a necessity. Looking at it all in one single page and where I need to navigate is a mental jungle....what Google really needs to do is set aside a page or a site that specifically describes (in a visual sense) where you should click to get to a specific report. I can get into my dashboard but after that, I am at a loss.
I presonally use annotation to mark site changes, Ex: New Ad formats, New Ad locations, design changes, hosting changes, SEO, etc. I note these changes in analytics to see how they affect my traffic afterwards. It is nice to see how the work you do affects how a site performs. As for a site flatlining, the analytics code may not be installed properly, or your site is not being found for anyone to visit.
