Hi all, I like the concept of BANS (Build a niche site) in that you find a niche on eBay to target, insert some code and you have a fully functional website but I did not like the idea of having to pay $97 for a site with limited functionality. So I decided to give Joomla (an open source content management system) a try which took me a couple of days to configure and finally figure out. Basically all you need to do is create feed categories and menu items, link them together, place them on your site and you'll have a fully functional rss feed from ebay with your affiliate ID. Easier said then done I know but what I like most about Joomla is that there are tons of additional add on features like polls, latest news section, comments, event calendars and even a forum. The added article feature is significant in that any niche site needs quality content. I want to gauge an audience to see if anyone is interested in this approach. Niche sites are becoming hugely popular and with a limited budget, $97 can seem like a lot. I want to write an e-book that will highlight the exact processes that I did to create my website with Joomla that will include screenshots and everything from start to finish. Basically a complete users guide to creating your Joomla based niche site using eBay RSS feeds from scratch. For something like this, I was thinking about selling the ebook for $7. What do you guys think? I do not want to write an ebook that will take me hours if no one is interested.
I'm actually looking into exactly this right now. If you had an ebook explaining it and a demo site that was fully-functional, I would buy it for $7 right now (providing it looked like you had a well-thought-out document).
I am interested and will gladly buy it at $7. I have my own hosting ready and willing to try out your methods. Also if you need help regarding trying out your method and posting the result and writing the ebook itself, do let me know. We could do a joint venture or something
Joomla and bans work well. Wordpress and Bans work fine too. The thing is that setting up these sites takes time. The fastest way I have set up a wordpress site has been in 15. It has taken much longer to do so with joomla. I think that people might be interested in buying the book if it saves them time in setting a joomla bans site up.
$7 sounds like a good price, did you ever wrote that book? If yes, I would be also interested to do a review of it on my blog. SY
Yes, stores without content are a lot around, but he was referring to a store inside a content rich joomla site. SY
