I know you can't fix this problem.. Here's the issue: I got a virus on my computer, so I did the usual format and reinstall. Still there! whaaaatt your crazy right? No... Here's what I was running: 3.4ghz Dualcore Nvidia chipsets on everything This computer is junked now because somehow a virus burnt itself to every read-only chip on the board and peripherals defying all logic of electronics as we know it... How do i know its on all periphs? I tried using them on other boards and then those boards were infected and rendered useless..... I know you can't fix this problem. Can you? I've talked to every IT person I know and they are stumped, as well as I... I've got CS background and I just can't see how it could have "burnt" itself to read only chips... what in the world!!!! If i can't figure it out in a week, I have someone at USF that is going to run lab tests on the chips to see if my house was broken into and chips were resoldered, and do some csi to see exactly how this happened My prof said if it's what he thinks it is than this might be in the paper and on cnn... keep an open eye! I think it has something to do with nvidia.. being that is the constant
Did it do any harm to the software or OS and what is the symthom? and how could you know it's the virus? and have you tried pluging other harddisk (not your one) in your computer and test run?
Is your PC having 2 hard disk? I don't think the virus will appear after formatting because you already erase all of the files including the virus you are talking about.
I still have no idea how in the hell these hackers managed to do this but I stopped who was doing it. They fessed up to destroying the hardware but they won't say how they did it. They say it was methodical shorting and it was done by "hand" LOL that is impossible. The only reason they are saying that is because it's a whole new crime if they used software as opposed to manual. How did I catch them? The members of my site actually caught them. The two devils that were manipulating my hardware got cocky and started screwing with my mailing system. They sent out malicious, nasty-grams so to speak, encouraging all of my members to commit click fraud! If it wasn't for the members replying to the emails that were sent, it would have gone unnoticed. They used two proxies, one off site local and one off site from another CA; we caught them at the proxy in CA because it's a well known proxy. After doing multiple trace routes, it was obvious that they had also broken security thresholds around the same time we had hardware issues. So the saga continues.. Now, 540+ members got a nasty email and I'm trying to rectify the situation. Most understand, but there is a few out there that flew off the deep end. I've made some major changes to both our onsite security computer and staff, as well as changing global permissions for employees. Now only board members like myself and other notable holders will have access. Obviously they wont be malicious lol. The boards are being kept for evidence and now the authorities as opposed to my prof will be doing the investigation. This is the crazy part, is my tool really that good that it's worth hacking like that??? I honestly think its disgusting that these people want to destroy a tool that is helping people make ends meat on the internet. I know tons of people in Florida alone that use my tool to help them make extra each month to keep up with bills. I consider their acts a form of terrorism to be honest.. Utterly disgusting! This is the most messed up part about the whole misshaping: I hired these people to HELP me. Ouch!
First thing which came to mind was that are you sure it's a virus? From there, did you re-install or did you go through the whole format-and-re-install thing? If it's still there, then I would suggest that you use Ultimate Boot CD for Windows. It's a great tool. Rather, it's a great set of tools. Good luck.
well your biggest was formating the hard drive, If your computer was infected with a really nasty virus, Then you had to find out what type of virus it was and how it got there. Now you said that you have formatted the hard drive but is still active, How did you format it ? Doing a quick format even a complete format wont remove some hardcore virus .. If you are using some type of Backup CD that you downloaded online, Then is a good possibility that that disk itself is infected.. Also you have to make sure you have done all windows updates to make sure your computer is patch for any holes it might have open that makes it easier for hackers to hack into computers, Trust me I do it all the time, For security test.. So is not that hard.. Also if you are running some type of networking with your computers, Then you have to look at which computers are the one that is infecting your computer.. You said the virus is inside a read only chip, I never heard of that , But then again it could be something new, that I have not been aware of.. Best thing to do is install ProcessGuard on your computer and set it to high, This prevent any files from running on your computer but the ones that are necessary to boot the OS, Microsoft knowledge section could provide the essential files that have to be run in your computer in order for it to boot up.. But if you know for sure that is infected with a virus within the read only chip, Why not just replace the whole motherboard instead of driving yourself crazy trying to figure something that wont be able to figure.. Remember virus could come from anywhere, Music, Pics, and even hardware drivers , Scripts installation, permission setting not set correctly, A lot of things could be the backdoor of this.. If you have your friends or professor take a look at it but cant find the source, Feel free to mail it to me with a prepaid stamp and I could let you know for sure where is coming from and how it got in.. But in either case, I do hope you are able to fix this issue and continue with your work..
Holy cow you are knowledge savvy. I fixed the problem, I bought new computers. The old was sent off as evidence. Love insurance.
