http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17978154/?GT1=9246 Interesting, religious leaders waste no time condeming this silliness. The whole exercise completely misses the point of Easter which is that Christ was crucified (took on the punishment of sin) so you wouldn't have to. Feeling the need to crucify yourself seems to indicate that you don't believe that what Jesus did was enough. At least they're only hurting themselves and are willing victims of their own silliness and are not seeking to force others to unwillingly suffer for their silliness.
That's my favorite religious painting. Notice the hammer in his hands and yet Christ is still holding him up.
Off Topic: It's amusing why the celebration is always on a Friday. The actual anniversary was last Monday or Nisan 14 from 1974 years ago. It is always the first full moon 14 days from the Spring Equinox in Jerusalem. Col
are you referring to the celebration of Jesus being crucified? The date always has to do with the biblical timeline and the full moon after the equinox, not before it...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus This can also be derived from the fact that Sunday is called the "Lord's Day" in the Bible (why most Christian church's have chuch on Sunday) which was the day he rose. Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Don't forget that Sunday's in Lent aren't considered a part of Lent...Sundays are "of" Lent, not "in" Lent.
