here is a great story about people from different religeons, nations, ethnic backgrounds working to get along. It also describes an ethnic/religeous fight and the efforts of community/ethnic leaders/religeous leaders to immediately stem the violence. The authorities are trying the kids who caused the violence. Rightfully so. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-08-14-coney-island_N.htm

I've been reminded of a time when my wife and I lived on a cul-de-sac with quite a number of families including muslims, jews, christians and specifically couples with which we were friendly including people from Lebanon, Turkey, Cuba, Israel, Spain, and the US.

The immigrants from foreign nations were happy to not be in environments where they were forced to take sides and fight. We used to barbecue and spend a lot of time together specifically with the couples from those lands and backgrounds.

More specifically, I recall on the night that Desert Storm started my wife and I were out to dinner with the couple with the husband from Lebanon and his American wife. Our waiter came to the table and as soon as we started speaking the Lebanese guy and the waiter started speaking in Arabic. They recognized one another's accents.

They were both from Beirut. They had fought on opposite sides during the long civil war in Lebanon, one being Muslim and the other Christian.

These guys were so happy to be out of Lebanon and out of the fighting. They enjoyed one another and we got special service.

That evening Desert Storm started and the kitchen had a TV. The waiter kept coming over to our table and telling us about the news broadcasts.

    It was very moving.

My neighbor and friend had told me many stories of fighting in that war, sleeping in trenches as a kid with a rifle, defending his side's turf, shooting at the other side, being in fire fights.

He was one happy guy, as were his parents and sisters who had escaped the misery. He was one happy guy that didn't carry around a lot of hatred and religeous bigotry.

Isreal since 1948-- Before 1948 Jews, and muslims lived together in many arabic nation without major conflicts. I hope you can see the historical event that occured then, and why there might be some hatres towards isreal after 1948.

We live in peace with other religions in Syria. Most of the people in syria are respectful towards other peoples believes. I am not saying its 100% like that, but you will find racist people everywhere, even in the U.S. :)
Here is syria's stats found in the US Department of state website.
check the link for more details.

Israel was formed BECAUSE of the conflict between Muslims and Jews. Muslims couldn't stop murdering Jews before Israel got a state, so they got a state to try to seperate them and the Muslim leaders told their followers to start murdering Jewish civilians.

To claim that Jews and Muslims got along before 1948 is incredibly ignorant.

Where you trying to prove or disprove your point?

Non Muslims can live in peace in Muslim nations as long as they are submissive and pay the "I'm not a Muslim" tax.

Name a modern country rules by Sharia law that does not treat non-Muslims as second class citizens.

    2 points to make.
    1. Israelis and Jews before 1948 were being attacked and killed. Buses bombed and suicide bomber attacks. Nothing has changed but the frequencies.

    2. People of all religions and races can live in Israel today in peace, but once you go through the fence it is a different story.

OK, one more. Yes the USA has racists, but are more of a minority and have no power. No organized racist group killing today as a group. They have lost their power because the rest of us stand up to them and don't let them bully us.
Trying to understand Syria and racism I find this

LMAO! Can you show us some facts about attacks on jews in Palestine before zionist came out and brought terrorism to holly land. I'm really curious to see that. Talking about being ignorant!

Same task for you: show me the facts about attacks on jews in Palestine BEFORE zionist came and used terrorism to archive their goals.

So in other words there's muslims live together with jews and not trying to kill them, right? :)
But how is that possible if they all are haters and wants nothing but to kill all jews?

I'm wondering if you'll find anything relating to what I pulled from Wikipedia on the Syrian government's web site. Perhaps in the same section as the democratic elections. The issue of the tension that exists is complicated and there are volumes on this subject. I try to remember that I can only judge people by whom they are as individuals but I am not blind to that with surrounds me. For starters, there is good reason why there are so many Iranian, Iraqi and Syrian Jews living in the US and practically none in those countries - they were expelled. Exactly what you're claiming the Jews are doing to the Palestinians. Well, if they couldn't live in the countries where they lived... where were they supposed to go?

In 1944, after Syria gained independence from France, the new government prohibited Jewish immigration to Palestine, and severely restricted the teaching of Hebrew in Jewish schools. Attacks against Jews escalated, and boycotts were called against their businesses.

When partition was declared in 1947, Arab mobs in Aleppo devastated the 2,500-year-old Jewish community. Scores of Jews were killed and more than 200 homes, shops and synagogues were destroyed. Thousands of Jews illegally fled Syria to go to Israel.

Shortly after, the Syrian government intensified its persecution of the Jewish population. Freedom of movement was severely restricted. Jews who attempted to flee faced either the death penalty or imprisonment at hard labor. Jews were not allowed to work for the government or banks, could not acquire telephones or driver's licenses, and were barred from buying property. Jewish bank accounts were frozen. An airport road was paved over the Jewish cemetery in Damascus; Jewish schools were closed and handed over to Muslims.

Have you ever been to Israel?

You got a taste of what happened above before the creation of Israel to be recognized as a country. But if you really want to know about the Jihad against Jews, pick up a book. How about "The Dhimmi" or any book on this topic for that matter instead of sounding off.

But let's get some full perspective. There are plenty of Jews and Arabs in Israel who want to live in peace. There are quite a number that do despite how much this shocks you. The problems are more complicated.

Are you familiar with the late Yasser Arafat? Did you know he was a billionaire? Yet you are shown pictures of the poor and oppressed, the people he claimed to represent and be the "voice of the resistance" for? Wonder where the money came from? Many people in this equations are the victims of the pure greed of others. The incredible corruption that exists within the Palestinian government itself is what smacked the US right in the mouth when it tried to intervene and create some semblance of peace. This is not so simple as you'd like to make it and despite the number of people who want peace, there are a sizable and influential number who don't want it unfortunately. They will use these poor people like pawns to carry out their own agendas. What do you know about suicide bombers and who is financing them?

The needs of the few are affecting the needs of the many. Sad but true. This 3 year old girl is yet another too young to make up her own mind but it will be made up for her by those with an agenda.

    Nope.

So there wasn't jewish terrorist attacking civilians? There wasn't destroying villages to build own ones? There wasn't forcing anyone to leave their homes? ? It's all about jihad against jews?

It isn't shock for me at all. I don't believe in fairy tales about how all muslims hate jews so it's normal for me that there is jews that live even in today's Iran and they don't want to leave.

lol you are talking like corruption is exclusive Palestinian thing and there's no corruption anywhere 'cept among Palestinians! :D
Funny how there's no Israeli government in past 10 years that wasn't involved in corruption scandals so everything you said about Palestinian leaders can be applied to Israeli leaders.
And when you speak about someone don't want a peace what do you think: does jewish settlers want's peace? Everyone with healthy eyes can see that any peace will include removing settlers from occupied territories so I guess we know the answer do they want a peace or not, right? ;)

I can only guess so I am guessing that most money coming from Saudis

    You are talking about AIPAC,right?

Well, considering that Jews don't have Jihad's then I guess the answer is yes. Don't bother refuting the fact that there is a sizable movement that teaches this in schools. Does it mean all muslims teach this? Of course not but we are not blind to the fact that this extreme ideology exists.

That's your quote not mine. If you want to engage into the problems that Palestinians had in voting during their previous elections, I invite you to discuss and elaborate. Even Palestinians said they are having a difficult time dealing with what's left over from Arafat and it's understandable.

When you talk of the "occupied territories" - are you talking about all the lands that Iranian, Iraqui, Syrian, etc. Jews once occupied and who were expelled long before any of this happened? Of course not. And considering that the surrounding Arab lands are about 700 times the size of Israel, it would seem that there would be plenty of land to go around for everyone. Unfortunately Jews cannot live there.

Ever hear of someone named Saddam Hussein, just for starters? It's clear fact that he was one of the major financiers of suicide bombers. Is that such a stretch?

As I said, the problem is far more complex than it seems. There is no simple solution and it certainly isn't going to get it's due in this thread. The only point of this thread was that there is a three year old who is unfortunately being told to kill Jews. It incited a nice long thread here as to the semantics of the message. At this point, all that needs to be said has been said.

So in one hand you are talking about complex situation and in other hand you explaining it like it's very simple: there's jihad and nothing else is a problem in Palestians and Israelis relations. Something simply doesn't add up

Every single Israeli government in past ten years was involved in corruption scandals so I don't get your point when you speak about Arafat and corruption. Just look what your former army commander did before last years war in Lebanon.

Same old story: "But they have plenty of land so it's ok to take some!". In all UN resolutions West Bank and Gaza are considered occupied territories but it's well know fact that Israel don't give a damn about international laws and UN resolutions at all. No matter what you say and no matter how much you use """ the fact remains: West Bank and Gaza (was) occupied territories.

So Saudis are good guys?
    Give me a break!

Again, you are saying how problem is complex and in other hand you showing it so damn simple, almost black&white, there's good guys and there's bad guys. Being born and rised and refugee camp, far away from your home land, you would teach your kids to love people that took your home and forced you to leave? AH yeah! It isn't that complex at all, right? It's jihad and nothing but jihad... ;)

Read. It will help. The word "Jihad" has existed long before the conflict.

The Israeli Jihad is the same as the Finnish Jihad and is the same as the Brazilian Jihad. Do you know what a Jihad is? I'm sure you do. ;)

And if you want to talk about refugees, the majority of Jews are refugees long before the Palestinians you are complaining about so, yes, Jews know all about what it means. Ever hear of Germany? Poland? Hugary? Let me know if you need me to connect the dots. For a time in many Jewish families they were told not to boycott German products. Considering the way the Jews were murdered, gassed and experimented upon during the Holocaust seems far worse than actually being able to live in a refugee camp as a result of someone's fault (whomever you want to blame). Yet Jews are not raised to kill Germans or anyone else for that matter. Your implication that it's somehow OK to raise children to murder other people - even innocent ones - is patently ridiculous.

And BTW, what's the excuse for the sizable sect of people in Iran, Iraq and other countries who raise their children with the same message to kill Jews at any opportunity? Their own people did the expelling and there is no excuse. And in your world this should go on without penalty.

This is interesting, first you make up a story and then ask what is the reason for it. I am sure that the number of people in Iran who raise their children with the same message to "kill Jews" is much less that people in U.S.A who raise their children with the same message to "kill Jews".

Funny how somehow muslims failed to exterminate all jews in their countires and as I can I understand you trying to say that was their intention whole time. As far as I know nazis were the only one that tried that. Prove me I am wrong please.

So at the end it isn't complex at just like I said, right?

Ridiculous or not that's a fact and will remain a fact. Being and refugee nation for centuries and then making other nation refugees too and than can't understand why they want to fight to last one is what I call ridiculous.

lol where did I said anything like that? Care to quote?

That probably wouldn't have anything to do with God.

I remember this discussion. Some other fool brought up the same argument. It goes like this:

If Muhammad was really trying to exterminate the Jews he would have succeeded.

It's a statement of arrogance. You assume because they have failed that proves they aren't trying and/or don't want to. But, facts prove they are trying and they do have the desire. To the Christians they say that the battle is between Christians and Muslims. To the Jews they say, it's a battle between Jews and Muslims.

I have a question: who isn't involved in this battle with the Muslims? Why is it that Muslims can't seem to get along with anyone? Buddhists, Atheists, Homosexuals, Hindus, Christians, Jews. Is there anyone in this thread that belongs to a group that has never been affected negatively by Muslims in say the last 5 years?

I wonder how long it will take for you to be banned like the last guy who make such rediculous statements. Maybe you are the same guy. Who knows. I'm not so foolish as to think there is only one Muslim that thinks like that.

The reason that Muslims have failed to whipe anyone off the pages of history like they want to is because those who desire such a thing are wicked. And wicked people are stupid. And stupid will always fail. But unfortunatly, a lot of people get hurt by stupid people because stupid people don't know when to quit.

First of all, where did I mention Muhammad anywhere in my posts? Please quote that or don't put words in my mouth. Funny how you failed to show me what I have asked to show me in this thread. Probably because you can't. All what you have, and guys like you,is same old story without any facts to back it up.
Now I have new task for you (and I am again sure you will fail on this one two and again repeat same old story about big bad Muslims eating joos!): show me which Muslim country even tried to systematicly exterminate all jews just like nazi Germany tried back in time.

Really nice ignorant statment. I'm shocked! :)
It's not suprised at all that you think I am Muslim. Muslims are probably responsible for your broken car, your debts and your flat tire too, right?

Well, please accept that unfortunately there is quite a bit you don't know on this subject and apparently you don't need to be sensitive to it. Shall we start with someone who just visited America and Columbia University to preach his message of tolerance and love all the way from Iran? This isn't a loudmouth like Ann Coulter. It's none other than the Big Kahuna from Iran, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

"He said what his generation has always believed, that is, that Jews must be killed. He stated that the state of Israel, founded on May 14, 1948, must be "wiped off the map." In other words, all Jews must be slain. That is the typical degradation given to Jews by Muslims. Jews are referred to as "Jew-pigs and descendants of monkeys.""

    http://www.americandaily.com/article/9887

I'm giving you just one source that I grabbed given my limited time and there are plenty, others which quote the Koran as allegedly stating the same sentiment. This isn't news to anyone and it's not the viewpoint shared by all muslims but a vocal and significant group as you can see. If seeing is believing there are plenty of new films that have smuggled out copies of Iranian and Palestinian TV which echo the same sentiment in graphic fashion. Search for "Ayatollah Khomeini" and there is a wealth of information you'll learn about what this man has done to cause hatred in the world if you are too young to remember some of the terrifying images. BTW, you do know who Daniel Pearl was, right? Do you remember what he was told to say before his head was chopped off? It wasn't about being an American...

Anyways, it is what it is. I don't use words like "all" and "everyone" because it isn't true, all muslims are not of the same belief just like all Arabs. But there is a significant voice and group of people who are following Hitler's trajectory and denying it like you do is ridiculous. As I said earlier, most Americans have no clue about what genocide has occurred during our modern times and NOT against Jews but other cultures. Ever hear of Rwanda?

As I said, it's not a simple conversation and I am sympathetic to the many innocent people, even those you sympathize for exclusively. I don't have time to continue this conversation so I'll wish you all adieu and hope that somehow we'll see some semblance of peace on earth during our lifetime.
