CRASH COURSE TO SEO BY BUBAIPAL SEO or search engine optimization is the process of optimizing a web page in such a manner so that it get high SERPS. Without much details I will be giving a crash course on SEO that will touch all the basic topics of SEO. SEO has 2 parts. Lets discuss them one after another. Onpage Optimiztion- This is the part where we get the content right and the keywords(words for which we wish to rank in SE) in proper place. Get your keyword in Title Tag Get your keyword variation in H1 Tag Get your keyword in H2 Tag Get your keyword and its variations in H3, H4.... if you need. Use meta keywords tag with keywords(less than 10, don't use same word more than 3 times). Keep it ontopic. Use meta descrition tag that will make people want to visit your site. But keep it on topic. Get your keyword in the body text at 5% density. But don't spam keyword. Ex- Sex,sex,sex -like used by porn sites Get your keyword at start of body text and at its end Get a keyword rich domain name. Name your files similarly to ther title tag. Always use text links. Interlink the pages of your site in a good manner. Make the content user friendly. Don't optimize in such a way that it makes no sense to visitors. Remember, Visitors are the one who will monetize the site. Use social bookmarks in your pages which you think will be useful to visitors. A nice one is at www.addthis.com Write lots of original, quality and unique content. Make a sitemap and submit it to Google and Yahoo. Make a user sitemap(html one) and keep it on your site. Always keep a Contact us and Privacy Policy. Offpage optimization- This is the part where we get Backlinks which vastly affect the SERPS. Reciprocal linking- It is not dead at all. Do lots of rerciprocal linking as you are not going to get 1way links easily if you have just started. Try to do it with relevant sites. But if you can't do with relevant sites do with anyone you can. You can do it in 2 ways- Join forums like DP at participate in link exchange forums. I would advise not joining link exchane websites. Getting listed there may have a bad effect on SERPs. Search with your keyword and mail the site owners with link exchange request.Add their site first and then ask for link back. State what you liked about their site and also use a girl name as your own name. I got a better hit rate with girls name. Also you can do a seach like this:- Keyword+"add link" Keyword+"add site" Keyword+"submit link" Keyword+"submit site" Keyword+"link exchange" This will give you relevant sites with link exchange proposals. One Way links:- Forums- Join forums which enable you to leave a link in signature. Digital Point Adobe Forums Source Forge Winamp Your niche related forums (DO seacrch keyword+forum) Articles Directory:- Write unque articles related to your site or even unrelated and submit to top article directories. www.ezinearticles.com www.isnare.com www.goarticles.com www.articlecity.com www.articledashboard.com Website directory- Submit your website to free directories. They are a great way to get some backlinks at first. Also continue doing them all along. But don't reciprocate to directories and don't pay for them. www.dmoz.org www.jayde.com And all other directories creeping up daily at the directory forum. That way you will get listed on the front page if you submit to new directories. Blog comments- Comment on relevant or even irrelevant blogs. Try to commet on relevant dofollow blogs. Use keyword as name and make a high quailty post. Ther are many dofollow lists availabe on DP. And you can also use dofollow blog search engines, fast blog finder, commen kahuna etc. Just Google or Yahoo them to find. Also comment on nofolow blogs as there is dispute over if it really affect SERPS to small extent. Also Yahoo the #2 SE has no effect of nofollow tag and treats them as regular links. Social bookmarking- If you have useful content people can bookmark your page and you gain 1 way Backlinks. Press releases- Submit free press releases to get BLs. Classifieds- I don't prefer this but you can try. Link Baits:- Article writer- Write articles, reviews, testimonials, blog posts for others in exchange fo link back. Either look in content creation forums like in DP or directly contact webmasters. Free stuff:- Provide something free and useful for a Backlink. Example:- Free Website Templates Free scripts (See phpBB) Youtube- Create a useful video on youtube and hope it goes viral. I am not sure if it is a SEO technique though. Do something earth shattering so that people on their own give backlinks. THE TECHNIQUES listed in this POST are all free. It's not necessarily a case of nobody liking it. It's just that there are tons of "Good SEO" threads on this forum. Most readers (myself included) simply skim them quickly and move on, because they've read so many similar threads already. BTW, you've had 49 readers to date, so the post is not unpopular.
