I just made a new paypal account, I added the credit card, and started the process on adding the bank information. I have about $450 in there, made in 2 days time. I wake up today, and it says now my account is limited and I need to send documents. Problem is that I am a minor, is there any way around this?
I assume you signed up under your parent's name, and added their credit card. ( If you signed up with your name, you wouldn't have had a credit card) Send them the documents.
In that case you didn't stick to the terms so there isn't much you can do.. You could have your parents send in documents saying they're the ones behind the account. Don't know if Paypal would fall for it but its worth a try.
What also sucks is that I cannot change the name of the account. I would change it to my dad's name and get the documents. Is there anyway to change the name?
Yes you can apply to have the name changed you just need to send them proof of identity. I have had this happen and all I did was provide them all the relevant documentation and the account was back to normal within 48 hours. They do provide you clear instructions on how to remove the "limit".
They want me to provide with proof of identification and a utility bill. I find two places where you can ask to get your business name changed. In one place you send them an email about it, and in the other, you have to provide 5 additional documents.
Well you don't have to change your name.. just let your parents contact them with their identification proof and yours, say that they used your name but that they're the ones behind the account. Don't know if it sounds convincing but if you send your and your parents documents maybe they'll just think of it as an honest mistake..
Even when you're right Paypal tells you're wrong. When you're wrong, it doesn't worth to waste your time explaining them your problem... ( there are more chances being hit by a striking asteroid than receiving a favorable answer ! ) The only reason you should send them a mail and wait for an answer it's because you like to add a new mail to -Stupid Answers Collection-
What I will do is, refund the two clients. I got two payments of $250 each, and it was for a service. So, I will issue a refund for both, and contact them to send the money to a new paypal account. In the new paypal account I will provide me parent's name, so I could get the documents easier.
Oh well, next time read the Paypal contractual agreement before you sign up because you are deemed to have read and agreed to them. One of the clause is that you need to be 18 years old and above to operate a paypal account. And if you are in the US, you need to verify the account with a US Bank account. I guess they found you out this time around. Don't think you can outsmart Paypal.
Problem is already fixed. I refunded the payments, and had the buyers send the payments to another paypal account.
NO he didn't loose money as he refunded the buyer from the limited account and then took it on other account, smart move.
