For those of us that post on CL, how many ads are you putting up to get decent numbers? (spammers need not apply) Should I just stick to the major cities? I only have a few PVAs to use and want to get the most out of them. tia.

I have never actually tried marketing on CL, the day I wanted to try was the day they added phone verification. You can use throw-away SIM cards with a couple minutes on them to verify by the way.

How long do you normally go before they ban your account?

If you're posting more than one ad in one city every 48 hours, YOU ARE a spammer.

Yep there is a fine line between marketer and spammer on craigslist. I would say usually one in a market every week if you want to not get flagged for spam. With so many markets you can switch them around on a regular basis and never be flagged but it just takes some learning on how to do it. I used the job section to make around $150 a day with leads and it kept up for a few weeks before it became a lot harder to get it done as many people started flagging the posts quicker.

Yep, their TOU allows 1 post/business every 48 hours. Not one post in each city, not one post in each category, 1 single post. Anything more than that is spam.

CL works but if you go in like everyone else and just plan to post and get sales, you will probably need to rethink it. Plenty of people post more than once every 48 hours etc you will just need more PVA and IPs though to avoid getting caught.

Spam pays, it's simple. Well I hope it pays for them :D Otherwise they shouldn't be doing it.

Craigslist was developed and intended for local business transactions only. That's why you can't search more than one city at a time and why there's no global advertising.

Technically you are only supposed to advertise in the city that is closest to your business or product location. However, they realize that some products can be used nationally/internationally so they don't harp on that too much, but the rule is still only one ad at a time across all cities.

Yes, unfortunately it's true. I'm sure I could be making more if I wanted to be a spammer. Unfortunately (not really) I have these things called ethics. I don't like it when people abuse my time and services so I don't do that to other people. And that's what spammers are doing, abusing other people's resources. I can't respect people and businesses that do that. It shows a distinct lack of imagination and willingness to work hard to get results and is instead a lazy way of doing business.

I agree it's almost like everywhere you go to on the site especially in the major cities you'll see some of the same ads over and over... if i were you i'd try odd cities and some major cities not all of them.. that is pretty much how i've done it itn the past.. but you can't do the same thing over and over.. you have to do the post for like a week then wait a few weeks then go back and post again.. too much of a good thing can ruin it QUICK...

Has anyone tried different ads in different cities for the same day? It would be easy to change up the same ad to reach more audience... unless CL will only allow one ad per IP?

Oh ok, wouldn't think this would be considered SPAM... especially if the ads are changed up where they don't have any similarities. But oh well, moving forward.

A single post every 48 hours. That's what's allowed. Anything more is spam no matter how you change the language of the ad.
